Work Sucks!

Sassy, I apologize for just now reading and responding to this thread. It's been an absolutely crazy week for me with no signs of winding down in the immediate future, so I haven't really been on NDN much either.

I'm not sure what advice I have for you as far as the job burnout and stress goes, but I can definitely sympathize and hopefully give you some insight into what you were saying about your dad and not really understanding what you're going through.

I've definitely been in your position before, and I still am to a very large extent. Both of my parents are lawyers, and though I have inherited an extremely strong work ethic from both of them as their daughter, I know that I certainly don't have the desire or drive to work nearly as hard as either one of them. It's not for lack of trying either, it's just that something like they do is just not fitting for me as an individual and that's that. With that said, it's very difficult for parents who either feel as if or actually do more at their job than their children to truly empathize with them and their stressors which are just as legitimate. I know for me personally, it is getting more and more difficult to relate to my parents in terms of these issues as I am working on applying for and succeeding in grad school. Both of my parents went to law school, which is a completely different ball game than even graduate school work. And it's very difficult for my parents to accept that I'm working and trying as hard as I can when the work required is certainly not anywhere close to what they had to do. What ultimately matters is that you are doing both what you want and what will really help you succeed the most in your life, and not what everyone else may say.

Tay I think this made perfect sense and even more how nicely written and how well thought out it is. Everything will work out for you I am sorry it is taking so long. Too bad your mom couldn't come across this and read it.
