This thread is literally just some good old fashioned talk about pillows!

I can't quite remember why I got so obsessed with finding the perfect pillow because as long as I can remember, I was always quite content with my pillow situation.

However, one day (apparently for no reason) I went on a mission to find the perfect pillow and years later, I believe I have finally found the sucker!

During my mission, I bought pillows in nearly every shape, size, and price range, but none of them ever lived up to my satisfaction.

Here are some pillow stories that I encountered during my mission:

* During a restless night of sleep, I was lying in bed watching TV and low and behold, a commercial came on for the "Greatest Sleep Pillow." Now I am not one for infomercials, but this one grabbed me with some authority and yanked me out of bed. I picked up the phone and I couldn't dial fast enough! A few days later, I received a package in the mail and I was more giddy than a kid in a candy store! I thought that what could only be described as the one true miracle in this world had arrived at my doorstep and was going to make my dreams come true (literally)!!! Anyhow, long story short, this was not the pillow for me. It was full of tiny little beads and it just didn't do anything for me. So thank you for nothing Tony Little (I think he was the guy on the infomercial)!

* After spending a night at a hotel, I awoke the next day incredibly refreshed after having one of the best nights of sleep in my life. I could only attribute this to their pillows (which to this day might be the best pillows I have ever slept on). While gathering myself in the morning, I noticed a little sign in the room that said you could purchase pillows (new ones of course) from them. Holy ****! Was this my lucky day or what. I immediately got on the phone and later worked my way down to the front desk to purchase two of these bad boys. They were "down body pillows" and boy were they great. Months went by (literally) before I finally received the phone call that I thought would change my life forever. My pillows had arrived and I could pick them up whenever I'd like! How I didn't get a speeding ticket on the way back to this hotel is still beyond me. Anyhow, after a few nights of sleeping with this pillow, I came to the sad realization that it just wasn't what I was looking for. I think the hotel had invested in some pricey pillows and then purchased some lower quality pillows to sell to me. It's possible that it took months for them to get me the pillows because they couldn't find the ones I was looking for and settled for less (I can't imagine there are too many people out there buying pillows from hotels). Either way, my search was far from over and I had never been more disappointed in my entire life.

* While at the Mall Of America, I wandered into the Sharper Image store and noticed they were closing and there were some deals on everything. Considering this store is mostly full of electronics, I was pleasantly surprised to see some "super power" pillow in a fancy box with words that sold me on it better than a veteran car salesman. I slept with this pillow for one night, and then I decided if I wanted to sleep on a rock, I might as well go outside. I still pull this pillow out once in a while to give it another shot, but it never lasts more than 10-minutes.

The Winner
After reading about pillows online and visiting Overstock.com, I decided to select two types of pillows that I had never tried before in hopes of finding the thing that's been missing from my life for far too long now.

Type 1 - Water Based (Example: Mediflow Down Waterbase Pillow | Overstock.com)

I'd never tried a water based pillow before so I wasn't sure what to expect. After getting it in the mail and filling it up, I tried it for a few nights and I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it. Getting to sleep with it was a little awkward, but I think I actually liked the pillow quite a bit when I evaluated the whole sleep experience.

Tye 2 - Latex Pillow (Example: Premium Natural Latex Foam Pillow | Overstock.com)

The only thing I have to say about this one is, IT'S THE BEST DAMN PILLOW I HAVE EVER USED!

My mission is complete! I have found something that I thought didn't exist. And it was there the whole damn time! I wake up feeling more refreshed than ever and I owe it all to this magnificent pillow!!!

ndn with your research you really could become a tester for pillow company!! I usually buy new pillows from the bargain on sale bin at wallmart for new pillows lol never in my life did I give it a thought. but now I probably wont sleep because of you!! lol thanks alot for bringing it to my attention!!

So many things to say here.

1 - NDN you swore in your post, thats a 7 day ban methinks.
2 - After having the pillow discussion for years, well done!!

3 - This could well be the best post ever made on NDN. The origional i mean. I read it twice just for fun. I might now read it a third time.

4 - My pillow is awesome. I have 2, and i got softer ones so they mush under me. I just need a better bed now. Also, having Jen lying on me really helps

At long last, the quest is complete...or is it? There may be another out there unlike any other, a dream catcher of pillows, a inducer of ectasy filled wet-dreams, a real drooler. Ya never know......
