Now that there are no chips to deal with, how does banning work?

We can't be banned from the chip system now.
So are we banned from posting, period?

I am scared to post anything controversial anymore without clarification of the rules that could be violated and cause banning.

Eejit got banned for cursing, I am told. Did he only curse once or did multiple cursings occur?

I thought bad words were just editted or warned about.

I wish there was another way to punish a member other than banning for
speaking their minds with passion.

If we had a chip system still, a great way to punish would be by issueing
fines for your earned chips.

A fine of 1000 chips 1st offense, 2000 2nd offense ect.

Banning should only occur if a felony was committed, not small infractions
of negative passion.

We are all human and the punishment should fit the crime.

That's all I am saying.

I got banned for disagreeing with Eejit and Eejit gets banned for cursing at another member.

I don't get it????????? I feel like I am in catholic school again.
"if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."

It wouldn't surprise me if no one responded to this thread because
most members are scared to speak their minds.

its like fight club,, whats the first rule of fight club?? so asking about banning is the first thing thats gets you banned!! ok I am being a smart
**s lol I think personal attacks on people would be the first thing to ban someone,, life sucks enough without getting ripped apart on the internet by people that are suppose to be your buds!! just my opinion I could be wrong :smash:

Wait eejit got banned? When did this happen?

I agree we are all adults here, but there probably should still be some rules in place. I am sure at the end of the day, no one means any harm.

honestly dude, look at yourself...youre "worried" about getting banned at an online forum...cmon man, its not THAT big of a deal. there are a million more important things in the world than an online forum. I love this forum, but im not obsessed with it...

Firstly, Ringo's been banned before and it definitely wasn't easy for him, so please take that into consideration. I'm sure if you were banned you wouldn't exactly take it lightly, at least not at first, either.

I think the larger issue here is not about being worried what will get someone banned, but more a commentary on how Ringo feels like once someone's banned or things aren't going well in the forum, everyone walks around on pins and needles and this forum becomes some place completely different than what it used to be- a place for lively, fun discussions among family members. All families endure a bit of teasing and roughousing, as well as go through disagreements at one time or another with each other, and I think that's what Ringo was getting at here. We're a family, and at least I would like to see the forum stay that way, even if the way we do things around here changes a bit.

He also responded in what can only be described as an immature manner that made him lose any respect for him

I imagine it something like this: speak in the forum the way you would speak to your boss at work. Yes, you're free to tell your boss what you think but you would be well-advised to not swear, not be insulting, not raise your voice, not rant and rave about things that cannot and will not change... Am I on the right track here?? It doesn't have to be boring tea party talk, but keep it polite and mature.

Eejit is the pulse of this forum.
NDN's lack of input on this subject is very disconserting to me.
I was expecting an explanation or an April Fools or something.
We die with Eejit and We die without him. Yawn ZZzzzZZZzzzzzz
I'm going back to bed.
Have Eejit wake me up when and if he comes back.

There are no rules you need to follow and no one has anything to worry about. Continue on like you always have and you'll be just fine.

Because the chips system provided financial rewards, I had to be more strict in regards to banning members who intentionally abused the system. That's one reason why I got rid of the system.

Without the system, it's really pretty difficult to get banned and I don't anticipate having to ban anyone very often now days.

Eejit101 was "banned" for 7-days because I have asked him a thousand times not to swear and he continued to do so. Yes, the swearing gets "edited" out, but you can still clearly understand what he was trying to say and that upset me. It's not that I really care about swearing in general, but the places he chooses to swear come off quite negative and I'd like that to stop. Eejit101 has a large presence here and I don't want people to get the impression that I am fine with him saying things like "Does everyone expect ****in everything to be free nowadays," because it gives the forum and myself a terrible image if I continue to allow it.

It's not about the swearing - It's about how it's used.

Funny, I thought I would be happy if Eejit got banned after I was mad at him for causing me to explode. Yet, I miss him like a brother.
Thanks NDN for clarifying your position, that means alot to some of us more passionate and sensitive members.

I think u mean "that made me lose any respect for him" I def miss him though, forums got far less british zeal to it :-p. Whatever though, small bump in the road as far as im concerned; someomne was a little outta line, they get a slap on the wrist so it doesnt happen again. The come back, woo woo, everythings good. This is eej were talking about here, a good dude, but a little wise in the "mouth". Can you blame him, hes british for crying out loud. He has masterful linguistic skills, and he doesnt want them to go unused :-p. Dont wanna get banned: just keep your polorizing opinions to yourself :-p. Lets get back to makin some money, and sharpening our games; leave everything else at the door.
