Hi guys, it's time for a new discussion of the week! I got the idea for this week's topic from Klinkman. It's pretty broad, and you can talk about any aspect that you like. Please discuss your views and opinions of the cost and methods of payment for education. You are free to discuss any age range, from middle/high school to college. I don't really care if you discuss vouchers or anything of the sort either, just try if you can to leave the Church/State and Affirmative Action arguments out of it, as I'd like to discuss both of these issues in a future post! I want to hear what all of you have to say. As before, I'll post my own thoughts about this issue in a separate post.

cost of education is way to much. these poor kids are in debt before they even get a good paying job, well thats if mommy and daddy didnt pay for it.

With the way the econmy is going to kill these kids getting out of college to find out they went 4 years for what? a temp job or something that they really didnt want to be. education should be free for the people who really want it. if you dont want to take advantage of it then that is your own fault and you will suffer.

its so sad to see the kids who make average frades in high school and want to futher their education but cant due to it being to dang much. then you got these rich spoiled brats who give 2 $hits about it and just go through the motions cuz it is what mommy and daddy wants. so i would say make it free for whoever wants to go.

I have so many friends that are going to college and that pay for it themselves. I think education is way over priced and it makes it hard for people to go to college when they don't have the money. Even if they are bright people.. I hate the way the world runs off of money!

Someone become president and change this please!

Well for now I will tell you the the parking and gas to get there alone practically kill me! I will try to explain my book situation. For starters math book was $180.00 plus $35.00 plus tax @ 7.25%. I am surprised they don't add CRV. lol

Books are seldom used for more than 3 semesters before a new edition is introduced and used. They only buy back books in excellent condition, as long as the particular edition is being used again, and you will get less than 1/2 of the money you paid for the book. That's it, sorry about your luck, these are the rules. That was one of my books this coming semester.

Then anatomy my book is $285.00. Then I have 3 more classes that require books. So there is an idea of books and cost of education.

Don't forget the scantrons, you have to have them with a #2 pencil for every exam. Cost around $3.00 for package of 5 or $1.49 each times all exams. (piddly)

But then you have tuition you pay by the unit, My tuition is $311.00 For Fall 2009. Gees I am looking so forward to all this. Thanks Tay! Man I have a lot to do....

UnGodly figures accumulate! But I think education is priceless. Just sad money is so hard to come by. I apply for federal grants and I get some help but funny thing is, it always seems like we made too much money last year to get this or that. (And we are starving) lol joke but please.

I am not a kid any more by any means and I appreciate the fact that I am going back to school. I am gonna be an RN eventually!

well i havent had to pay for mine as i dropped out of college let alone a jr college. lol but my wifes loans are down to about 65k down from about 75k. she went to santa clara university. and as for my oldests she is gonna be on the 4th grade and we have been paying for materials and books and what nots that she needs for her to be good in school. i dont ever remember my parents paying for pencils erasers and like rulers and stuff. i do remember buying like GI joes pencils because i didnt want the plain jane #2 pencils. kinda weird we pay for her whole years worth of supplies up front. but the way i think of it if it broadens my wifes and kids futures im all for it. still rough though when u say a payment so big and so long andits not for a house. lol
