The answer: Absolutely.

The IRS does not care where you made money, or whether or not it is legal. (online poker is legal in the United States) Uncle Sam wants his share whether you are getting paid to dig ditches, sell quilts on Ebay, or sell crack behind the local bowling alley. This is how many of the largest mob organizations came crashing down. Not for stealing, fraud, or murder, but for not paying taxes on their earnings. This is, in fact, what sent Al Capone to Alcatraz.

How does the IRS keep track of this? Not only that, who holds jurisdiction over these rooms when they are out of the country. I don't understand how you can make someone pay tax on something that is not even regulated by our government.

if i win anything big im just gonna lose it to sand then go live with him ...
you havent gone off and gotten married yet sand have u?

i dont think you should have to pay taxes on any money till you get the check. Even at that in land based casinos any win over 1200, you have to fill out all kinds of forms and pay immediately the tax of the state you win it in then when tax time comes you have to claim that. This info from my own experience last year.

so make alot of little wins no prob. so online has to be the same way.

Or come live in the UK!!!! Our sites/high street bookies/bingo halls, pay the winners tax from their profits!!! Ship it! Finally something good to brag about living in this damp, dreary place called the UK.

Also, i can ear a living online and get away pretty much tax free with all the stuff i can deduct!

So how does all the lucrative online stuff get tracked?

Where is there a reference that you have to pay taxes on EVERYTHING?
