    Default NFL midseason review

Rounding out week #10 of the NFL season, I've come to notice some big things from unlikely places.

The first, and I'd like to apologize and eat my words from this weekend, when i said the Bengal's are a first round bust. The '09 Bengals are the REAL DEAL! I watched them play the defending NFL champs, and stick it to them. It seemed like every time I watched Worthlessberger drop back, he was getting dropped by that hawiian dude with the pony tail...Sha-ney-ney or something, or one of the Bengals linebackers...Chad Ochostinko obviously wasn't kidding when he went against that A-hole critic on ESPN and said they were going 12-4 this year. He's gained alot of respect in my book and hopefully he can make it to the big stage this year in January! And need I bring up adding 3rd down RB larry Johnson to the mix??? The Bengals may become one of the toughest teams to beat...

Secondly, It seems that this year in the NFL, it's a capitalist league where 4 or 5 elite teams are winning 95% of the time, and the rest have only 2 or 3 wins all together. Including my Niners, who need atleast 4 more wins to make the playoffs behind Mike Singletary.

Third order of business...Colts vs. Saints in the Superbowl? What a matchup! This is the dream game this year I feel, the battle of the (currently) unbeatens. Both teams however, have to face some scrappy teams that could easily come out and blast them. The Saints in particular still have to face the Patriots, as well as a slew of tough NFC teams including the C-boys, ATLiens, and the new and improved Panthers the last game of the season. The Colts Still have to face the Ravens, and Denver before season end. I feel that the Colts still have the best chance at running the table out of these two teams. However, should these teams meet, Saints all the way. Better rounded team against the all offense Colts. The D of the saints would shut down Manning, and hold him to 2 TD's(which is whatr i consider shutting down Manning! HAHA).

Lastly, What the heck happened to the Giants?!?!? They were coming out early on in the season, scoring mad points and putting subs in during the 3rd quarter, and now they can't even close a game out without being embarrased...geez, I had alot of faith in these guys early on, and now, nothing. I hope they are sitting back like they did in 07 and waiting until the end of the season to make a run at the Superbowl...

feel free to add anything noteworthy in the NFL...

Bengals have finally got thier chit together is, congrats to them, now only if the browns could do that. As a huge cowboys fan, I always keep tabs on the giants and heres my take on what happened. Plaxico screwed them last year by shooting himself in the foot. This year the begginning of the season alot of the critics and analysts were sceptical of how the giants would do without P.B. That added fuel to the fire initially, and the giants did great for a while, then the flame died out, and even though there hasnt been any considerable changes, they have sucked and sulked about for some time now, much to my surprise. I cant figure it out, but it is good for us cowboy fans, and the eagles arnt much better off, so hopefully romo will get a shot at redemming himself in the playoffs after that botched field goal attempt he screwed up.Dont let us down romo.

They're definitely good, but NO way SB material. The defense is top 10, but not good enough to make a serious run that goes through IND or NE. I could see them making the AFC Championship game, though. I've never bought into ROFLburger being an elite QB, and PIT has had some bad games (and has only beaten 1 real team) so I'm not sold yet on the Bengals.

Nothing new here. There's just an excessive amount of REALLY bad teams this year with STL, TB, DET, KC, CLE, OAK, and to a lesser extent, WAS.

Colts are NOT all offense for the first time in recent memory. Their defense is better than the Super Bowl team, they just had an almost all rookie secondary vs the Pats due to injuries. The Colts won't run the table though, if Jim Caldwell really is a mold of Tony Dungy. Dungy always sits his players at the end of the year when everything is wrapped up and I have no reason to believe Caldwell won't do the same, especially since the Colts pretty much have a 4 game lead on first round bye and 2 game lead on home field throughout. The Saints d is alright. They give up A LOT of points, but they have an insane turnover margin and 7 or 8 defensive TDs. The Colts can't be expected to make these mistakes, nor can any other SB team (NE, PITT, or CIN) and so NO's edge would be gone. Don't forget that the Colts will have Anthony Gonzo back for the playoffs and hopefully Donald Brown will get a larger share of the workload since Addai sucks.

The Giants defense is swiss cheese and Eli is overrated as all hell. I'm not surprised, although I bought into the hype back in week 4. I watch more Giants games than anything else despite being a Colts fan (I live in NY) and trust me, they suck. They only have 1 legitimate WR threat, and they don't have a 25-30 carry back in Jacobs which hurts them now that Bradshaw is out. Add their swiss cheese defense, and you have a 3rd place team in the very competitive NFC East.

    I like this thread....

Ok i will first start with my g-men..... Giants played a weak schedule to start the season at 5-0 but manage to get two division wins... they are currently sitting in third and needed this week 10 bye badly.....I have to agree with terp that there D is lacking secondary but if the D-line can get there act together they might have a shot at winning the division..... A lot of home games left for the Giants....

Bengals.... I am not jumping on their band wagon... They beat up there division badly and now are going to make the playoffs... Can they win though.... absolute not..... they will get a first round bye and then lose at home.... I do not seeing their D holding manning, t brady and moss. they are going to get upset... oh yea if Pit gets there act together and sneak into the playoffs and play bengals one more time, then Pit wins b/c it is hard to beat a team 3 times in a year...

Now last thing i will talk about it, is playoffs contenders... Vikings may get there wish, if brett favre doesn't blow it... Like when threw a perfect ball to the giants in 07 to end the game with a giants D touchdown.... I have faith that there is only one reason that brett came back and that was to win another superbowl and end his career like elway did..

saints and Ind, I dont know yet....I would like to see the saints vs a real D but the only problem is there isn't a real D this year... Ind will make a run but i dont know if manning can go all the way...

    Yup. Steelers suck.

And my Colts keep on rollin'.

We will likely see a 16-0 this year imo.
