Default ftp, thought the donking was over, boy was i suprised

after taking my umpteenth bad beat this week, by a person holding terrible cards,( and i'm not talking about him outflopping me, i'm talking about him calling with just top pair and hitting his 6 outer on the river, or me getting it in with top set and him calling with bottom pair and runnering a flush), I wanted to see exactly how successful people have done on the FTP lower limits. Is there a way to move up??? Every time i attempt at moving up in limits, i get donked and donked and donked, then i move down to BR myself, and the donking continues...

been a terrible week for poker, i'm at another one of those crossroads where i may quit playing ONLINE all together. I dont care what anyone says, online poker is BS, and not true poker, i equal it to video poker.

I couldnt agree more!! at fulltilt I got lit up sooooooo many times lately with people calling my all in with AA and they show 39 and make a flush I just laugh now its sad. it happens to everyone but it is pretty sad.

It's not really that it's rigged so much as people just play hands they should be playing. I do believe that if you're losing on the turn, you'll more often than not win the hand in a showdown, though.

But yeah, it gets a little better at higher limits, but I refuse to play at higher limits. I'd rather spend my money at those limits in live games.

yeah well i know how u feel. i lost like 75+ on ftp yesterday playing the $10+1 double stack tourneys. took brutal beating but u know what the way i look at it is i could have saved my myself some chips if i played the hands different but i would go all in with AA and KK and get beat by 77 or suited connectors. but i feel today is the day for me to break thru and start punching donks in the face. so just keep playing your game u will bloody some donk faces today.

I'm honestly hoping that Online poker gets banned in the US, because the countless hours i spend each week playing, and getting donked on, i think i would fare alot better in AC and make more money, and not having online poker would force me to go to the casinos.

man kings i feel 100% of what youre saying, as im sure we all do. I kinda feel like im in the same boat as you, the bad beats, the horrible play and the outdraws, are getting neck high, and u can barely breathe. Although ive said this a thousand times (and although i sometimes dont take my own advice) you cant allow the inherent emotional and psychological swings that exist in poker, to affect your disposition. Whether u win 5k for first place in a tourney, or bubble because of donkination and poor play, you have to be in the same state of mind.
What seems to happen to me, is ill take one of these beats, and then abandon my play to try to compensate for the chips/money i just lost. That, leading to losing more chips, and becoming increasingly frustrated that my hands arent panning out.

I think you have to be stoic. Winning and losing doesnt matter; winning and losing doesnt matter.... winning and losing doesnt matter... man i keep saying it and it still sounds weird.... but thats what u gotta be like. NO matter what the external circumstances, you have to remain steadfast and well-disciplined... Man, i think its more of a life lesson than anything... forget poker.

Dont allow the inherent emotional and psychological swings of ANYTHING, to affect your disposition in a negative way. Research your play, study poker strategy, pot odds, and all that. Study it so well that the only thing going through your mind is information, and logical deductive reasoning. Theres a time when raw emotion is needed, and the last place, is at the tables.

this has worked for me in the past; if ur ever taking a bad beat or something, or youre noticing your play is slippin, find something to do (30 seconds 1 min long) that ACTUALLY destresses you. Thats helps you release that obvious tension thats within you. When i was playing winning poker a few weeks back, in the middle of a tourney, if i made a mistake or got outdrawn; Id sit out the next few hands (or at least use the time bank) and put on a certain song and do some push ups and curls. Sounds stupid albeit, but theres something about physically releasing that tension, that is almost cleansing. You take the bad beat, you recycle the swirling emotions that occur within you, into a productive means to deal with them. Just take a break, find out what chills u out. And when that stuff happens in poker, jsut take a moment, and do that thing.

I hope this helps. As i probably said before, im actually saying this tomyself more than to you. BUt i really think that whats been helping me might help you. You have to make a conscious effort to take control of your emotions and behavior; i wish it was as simple as just happening normally, but you REALLY gotta make an effort. I hope this helps..

Find out what relaxes you, and keep it around you when ur playing. A pet, a song, a book, whatever. find it, and use it.
    Best of luck man!

That problem right there is the textbook definition of Tilt. There are a few pieces of advise I will offer about online poker. First and foremost is don't out think yourself. There are alot of times that you tell yourself that he has to have this hand. Then you go through the action and determine that you think he has something else that you beat. You then make the call and find out that you were right with your first read. You just out thought yourself.

The next piece of advise I can give is expect the swings and make sure your bankroll can support them. If you don't plan for the downswings that are sure to come and are playing over your bankroll you will end up broke every time. Bankroll management should be the first chapter of any poker book in my mind, it's that important. There is no way you can win every hand you play. You will lose some that you are the huge favorite and some that you were actually the underdog and made a miss read. The best outcome you can hope for is to maximize your profits and minimize your loses.

The final advise I will give someone goes back to the quote above. You have to have your mind in the right spot 100% of the time to win at poker, especially online. I personally believe that online poker is 6x harder than live. I believe that online 3/6 limit is more like live 20/40 limit. It's not that the players better, rather that there is more information available to be gathered and used. If you are not using that information, that is your mistake.

Finally, it doesn't matter if you are winning or losing, you have to play YOUR game. Don't allow what has happened in the past influence what you do in the present.

    Ummm.

1 - Nutz, posting a limit hand for a bad beat is cheating. No hand at any time in FL poker is a bad beat.

    As for the other posts....

How many times do you win a hand in order to lose one with KK vs xx or whatever. Your NOT MEANT to win every hand. I honestly cant remember the last time i won a hand in order to say i lost to a suckout. I get them first. But this isnt about me, as i suck at poker right now. Hence, me not playing.

Also - if your good at poker you would never quit.

So you get left with the following.

1 - Your not as good as you think.
2 - Your playing the wrong game for how you play.
3 - Your playing hands incorrectly.
4 - You run like me.

if there is no difference between winning and losing, and it doesn't matter....then why play? I personally just don't care anymore when i play online poker, it's meaningless, pointless, and a waste of quality time...not to mention it's not real poker.

Ok I myself had made alot of these posts, and I agree its sick, however I was watching the first round of the main event this year.Obviously I'm not gonna spell his name right but Daniel Negranu sets down now the first hand dealt he plays 3 5 os, raises 9 times the BB,of course he flops two pair and wins about 2200 chips, the pot being about 4400 if I am not mistaken, well then it continues and there showing guys playing and calling terrible hands and winning.
Full TILT does have some terrible beats I agree as does most poker rooms, but if I pay ten grand to play a tourney I expect not to see this but it happens alot.I felt the same way KINGS but I figure my time will come,I dish out a few now myself as I see it happen,I am just gonna grin and bear it, beats playing solitare.

That's different though. That bad beats occur when all the money is in the pot and then the lesser hand hits some miracle 2-3 outter.
