I got fired from the hospital for getting into a minor traffic accident.
During my appeals hearing for my unemployment benefits which I was denied because the hopital claimed I committed 3 felonies and that I was totally negligent. The state of CA took their word on it.
During my phone hearing I asked 1 simple question to the person from the hospital.
I asked, "were you there at the scene of the accident"
    She said "No"
Her entire case was based on hearsay with no written proof what so ever.
The hospital gambled all the way till the end, knowing they couldn't win and hoping I wouldn't show up or put my foot in my mouth.
I prevailed, but with the growing amount of illiterate people in the country
(40 million) it's no wonder why these companies spend tons of money lying and defaming it's previous employees.

so are we entitled to a paid lunch or its just mandatory that we take atleast a 30 min break. Our boss schedules us for 8 1/2 hours of work but we onyl get paid for 8 knowing we get a break. However, i waive the breaks because i eat in about 5 mins and leave after 8 hours...am i entitled to a paid lunch/dinner?

got to see what your labor laws are and most of the time lunch breaks are unpaided.

For every four hours worked you get a 15 minute break. For every 5 hours worked you are to take a 30 minute lunch. For every 8 hours worked you take two 15's and a 30 lunch. These breaks are mandatory.

No you do not get a paid lunch/dinner as those breaks you have to take even if you waived them. Your company can get charged with a hefty fine if they found out that you waived those breaks.

In California you must be allowed 2 uninterupted breaks and 1 uninterupted lunch.
Keep track of them all in a diary and when the job is finished ever, then file a labor board claim. Get a co-worker with you and you will win 99% of the time.
Sounds to me that they owe you 2 extra hours of pay each day.
