the point i'm trying to make sweatpea(and your def on the right track) is AA against ATC is about an 80% favorite...however, for some reason online, it very rarely works out that ONLY one person calls your bet. So your forced to take a flop with 2+ people dropping your percentage of 80% down to something like 60-65%, maybe even less depending if someone holds an ace or not...thats why with aces or kings i try and get as much in preflop as possible and if they want to hit, they have to hit blind, esmordan made the right play both times, setting up, and theres nothing he could do about it. But at higher stakes he wont face either of those plays.

I have never played live poker (except against my kids and even then, I usually lose LOL). But my question is: in a real live game, I'm sure everyone gets defeated by a bad beat once in a while, but is it much rarer than we see all day every day online??

its not much rarer...its the fact that you see less hands so you feel its rarer but in reality its the same % of the time

Bad beats happen all the time!!!! In live games, if your playing very good poker you usual wont see a bad beat!!! however it happens, for example i was in a live tourney 25 bucks 30 people enter and I got my aces crack by 89off. that same night at the cash table, i was all in with AA vs 1010 and of course a 10 hit. this happen in about three hours at live games!!! so the bad beats come but not a lot!!!!
online you can see bad beats happen three times faster.......

p.s If you keep getting yourself in all in situation and you a 70% fav. then you are playing very good poker, so keep it up sweetpea

You're seeing at least 50% fewer hands in live games though. A dealer can't deal as fast as a computer.
