Default From nfl champ to prison inmate

well today is the day that plaxico burress starts serving his 2 year prison term for shooting himself in a night club. i still laugh at this when i see it. u know for him to carry a gun was dumb. isnt that what celebs and athletes have body guards for. geez u pay them enough let them do the dirty work. well he has 2 years to think about how dumb he was and how he would do it different. lol well later plax we will see you in i say 1 1/2 because i think you will get out early for good behavior.

to make him even more retarded if possible?? he was carrying an unregistered gun with the safety off!! real smooth.hes actually lucky in the fact the he was a public figure because in the state of new york carrying a unregistered firearm is a huge mistake!! any comman guy with that gun would be in alot more serious trouble!! but guys that can afford 400 dollar an hour lawyers seem to do better lol

well his lawyer was a good one and if he didnt accept plea deal he was gonna get 10-15 years in prison. so the fact that his lawyer got him that deal was well paid.

i don tknow if you guys know how it al went down but he said he walking up to the vip room and felt the gun slip down his waist so he tried to grab it an dpulled the trigger. he said he wasnt in the club for more than 5 minutes. he didnt even get a drink yet. no one heard the gun go off due to the music. the security at the club patted him down and felt the gun and let him in. just bringing a gun in to a public place like that will get 2 years. then discharging a gun will get you a 5 years. hes lucky he got what he got.

It's illegal to carry a weapon in NYC as far as I know. My brother in law is NYPD and isn't even allowed to carry his weapon off duty, it needs to be locked up.

Dang, that much time for some gun charge and he shot himself. Pretty stupid if you ask me. What is going on with all these NFL players nowadays, just ridiculous. It just shows that they are people too and that you are not going to get away with every little thing that gets you in trouble. If any other person 10-15 years. I cant even do three days in jail. lol...

well thats how it is in cali. u cant have a concealed weapons liscense or anything. if u have it in the car and it is regd then u must have the gun in the trunk and the bullets in the glove compartment. when i wa sin arizona for work u can get a regd gun and carry it on you as long as you expose it. cant be concealed. now thats crazy and i actualy saw it. in texas they got laxed laws also. worked there to and like when u walk into a liquor store or something they have signs that say no guns. lol i wish cali would change there laws because the current laws arent helping they are only hampering my security and others who dont do bad.

Crazy that different states have different laws. In WA you can carry a registered gun with you, loaded. Just have to have the license with you. If they catch you and your ligit I believe they have to take the gun away from you and you have to pick it up at the station.

I think 2 years was a little outrageous...heck i think 2 month's would be a little outrageous. It's bad enough he shot himself in the foot..eghem i mean leg, and now he's gotta share a cell with Rufus the angry buttpirate! hahaha

I think 2 years is lenient. The fact that it was himself that he shot doesn't affect my opinion. He recklessly discharged a dangerous weapon in a public place where others could have been injured or killed. A more aggressive prosecutor might have resulted in him doing even more time.

I feel 2 years was a extremely harsh penalty. He shot homself costing himself millions of dollars. Stallworth kills someone while drinking and driveing and gets 60 days. How is shooting yourself which I do thing is quite ignorant deserve a more harsh penalty then killing someone?

normally I might agree, however I think this is way to harsh.First people know these guys, stalkers, etc. They get robbed alot,as they carry alot cash and jewlery.I for one believe all americans should OWN alot firearms,as it is our right.Discharging the gun in public was bad but as stated he has already been punished. My tip of the day, don't try to rob me.

I have a lot of friends who carry. None of them, at least as far as I know, has ever accidentally discharged their weapon. My understanding is that it is fairly hard to do if you follow normal safety precautions. This leads me to believe he either never learned the proper way to carry and handle the weapon or just ignored what he had learned. Either way I find his behavior to be reckless and dangerous.

I agree. Stallworth should have gotten a much longer penalty too. But that shouldn't have any effect on Plaxico's sentence.

I totally agree the guy is stupid.however as I have been in court seen judges slap guys on the wrist. This guy has already paid a huge price, bigger than most.Stupidity is not a crime as far as I know, or I would have life by now.

Not the same thing at all. This is more like if you drive recklessly and only injure yourself. You are still guilty of reckless driving.

Well as someone who has spent more time in court than he would ever want I can agree about the slaps on the wrist. But I still think he got off easy. Maybe it's just my nature. There is a reason why the only legal job I even remotely enjoyed was prosecuting misdemeanors. I wanna lock em all up.

well all i got to say is he got what he deserved, he will only spend like 16 months in jail if that then get out. as for stallworth he didnt hit the guy because he was drunk. the guy ran out in front of him and if he was drunk or not the guy was toast. i think stallworth got off a bit but i dont think he intentioally tried to hit him. you guys should look at the stallworth interview on E:60. will make u think alot differently on his sentencing. the guys family got paid when he jumped out in front of the car. ther was no intent and thats why he got what he got. yes he was drunk but he wasnt driving fast or none of that. he was going the speed limit and not driving reckless. well that my feelings on all of this.
