    Dear Mr. Martin,

Thank you for taking the time to write to me and express your support for internet poker. I share your concerns, and I support the ability of adults of legal age to play poker and wager on internet games.

As you may know, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act imposes restrictions on companies that provide online opportunities for individuals to play poker and make financial transactions related to that game. The intent of this legislation was to resolve problems related to tainted transactions and illegal activities. However, many law-abiding citizens and companies have also been negatively affected by the Act. Companies that provide and sponsor online gaming should not be cut off from this significant source of legitimate revenue, and individuals should not be deprived of the games that they enjoy. Instead, I would support legislation that introduces a regulatory scheme that makes internet gambling legal and provides safeguards against money laundering, fraud, and underage gambling.

Thank you again for writing to express your concerns, and I hope that you keep in touch with my office regarding future legislation and concerns you may have. For more information on this and other important issues, please visit my website at Kirsten Gillibrand - United States Senator for New York: Home and sign up for my e-newsletter.

    Sincerely yours,
    Kirsten Gillibrand
    United States Senator

Thats kinda interesting. I recieved a few emails from various senators (as i played the PPA games on a few different sites :-p) and they were all pretty bland and cold. Not only did it no really adress what the letter i had sent said in the first place, it was like, dismissive of having any involvement whatsoever. I believe Shaheen told me that "there was no current legislation discussing the UIGEA or internet gaming" and that "even if there were, that they dont support it"

In this letter (although definately worded kinda blandly) she actually said whether or not she supported lifting the ban and regulating the online gaming market, and she actually gave some of the reasoning behind why the law is in place, and what should be changed. I got a few emails AND a few letter from shaheen and gregg (i got duplicates :-/), and it was just dismissive, and irritated the hell outta me.

But really though.... pay your taxes and youll be fine. period.
