    Default Poker Related FML!

I don't know how many of you guys follow fmylife.com, but I was reading posts tonight and saw a great one that I just had to share with you all. How do you feel/what would you do in this situation?

Today, I was in class, playing online poker and keeping up my winning record. I eventually got seated against a guy who beat me at every hand. I heard laughing behind me after I lost all my winnings. The guy behind me had just made an account, looked over my shoulder, and won all my money. FML

    lol that's hilarious...good find tay

I was never able to play poker in class because back when I used to take a laptop to school, I used a pre-intel ibook that couldn't run anything.

I wish I could go back to school. :(

Oh man, I dont even know what I would do. I would certainly be very angry, and demand that he return me my money, or at least try and make a spectical of it, and make the guy feel like a total jerk. That was wrong.

I would have done the same thing as the guy behind and then either: lol @ him and then give him his money back or, more likely, not tell him and keep his money if it was a worthwhile amount.

    I'm a douche like that

Just so you could play poker in class, or for other reasons? Lots of adults I've talked to (including my parents) tell me they'd love to go back to school, but I can't wait to be done. I've always felt that way really for some reason, even though I'm good at school. And even now that I have a job (although I work at home) I'd still rather do that than go to school I think. I'm not entirely sure why, but I think that for me, working for someone gives me something concrete that I feel like I've accomplished, as opposed to writing a paper or something where I can't really see the benefits of it/there might not be any direct benefit of it ever. It's not an instant gratification thing, I just...like to know that I've made a difference, you know?

And yes, after I've been in the workforce for a while, if by some slim chance I ever DO say that I wish I were back in school, you can say "I told you so".

At the same time, there are a lot of perks to being a college student, like cheaper medicine and doctors visits conveniently on campus. But that's another thing entirely, and not really related to being in school/not being in school.

Mostly because I absolutely LOVE learning. I hate the papers and the studying, but I adore learning. It's something I never though I'd say, but around my last 2 semesters of college, I started to discover...I wish I had gone to class all along. Perhaps it's a sign of maturity, perhaps it's a sign of immaturity (an excuse to avoid working) I don't know, but I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing every weekday than sitting in an economic theory class.

Yeah the learning part is definitely worthwhile, and it's something to strive for and achieve, too. I guess I should get used to school though as I want to teach! I like the school environment, I think, it's just the reasons for being motivated or whatever. But you're right about the learning part.

That sucks for him. It would be so difficult to actually see the person in person who took your money but it does happen. Losing that is.

That's a great poker-related fml in my opinion though.

wow, surprised that nobody thinks that the story is a complete lie. LOL. Yea, so this kid behind the kid that wrote it, created an account, deposited, found him on the site, and played him while looking over his shoulder.. seriously. its like the penthouse forum letters, its just something that people would want to hear. But whatever, i usually take an odd position on things anyway, but come on. On the OFF chance that this did happen and it was for real money, you better believe id stop the entire class and make the kid transfer me every cent of what he took, lest he catch a beatdown. Thats theft, doesnt matter if ur an idiot playin poker in class or whatever. But thats me personally. If someone ELSE were to leave themselves open and i were to witness cheating, i wouldnt care; because as an individual, you should constantly be aware of that kinda stuff. If your not, how do you expect to NOT get cheated.
Moral of the story is, stay in school??
