Default why no limit is better than limit

    1. No limit means your always playing with your entire stack and can use it to your advantage or be used against you but it adds a whole new level to the game and anything that can take away luck and add a form of skill I like.

    2. Like number one there is alot more luck in limit because more people will be in each hand and more people will say untill the river and this causes alot of great early plays to loose to river rats and beginners who just get lucky by playing every hand and chasing everything which again takes away skill and adds luck.

    3. It doesnt make good television. without the all in alot of the mysticque and fun of holdem for a tv show goes out the window because there is no fireworks or killer bluffs. so this hurts the game all together which hurts us poker players in the end.

So that is just a few reasons why no limit is better than limit. of course this is my opinion and if anyone disagrees I'd be glad to hear from you

I agree with you on this on. About the only time I play limit is when I dont feel like risking the full amount I bring to the table in a few hands or one even. Limit for me is a game to sit at for along time and just relax and have a good time, and donk off 5 bucks, to relieve some of the stresses i get from trying my hardest at no limit. Great post and excellent points!

I believe limit hold'em has it's place. Limit hold'em is a great game for new players to sit at and see the flow of the game. Limit also offers a great teaching opportunity. It makes figuring pot odds very easy as the bets don't vary in size (other than the jump on the turn and river).

No limit is the game of choice by most players because it allows you to protect your hand better than limit. However, no limit requires more disicipline to play and better bankroll management. If you can't get away from AA when you are pretty sure you are beat, stick to limit.

If you've ever tried 1-150 spread limit, it's basically holdem. They have that at the Arizona casino's here instead of no limit at the cash tables. The max bet you can do in a single round is 150, but the blinds are 1-2 and the game is holdem exactly. The min buy-in is around 100 bucks, but the max buy-in is 250, so the 150 limit doesn't even really matter because after one or two rounds of the max bet someone is all in.

Meh. Your reasoning is definately sound, but i dont know how much "good television" would matter to me when im talking about poker. I enjoy playing 1000x more than i enjoy watching, so to me, it wouldnt weigh heavily. However, ur other reason are definately spot on. The one thing i gotta say about limit, is that when your playing high stakes, it cant be beat. The best times i had playing poker, were when i was playing high stakes holdem cash games, and then high stakes specialty games(limit games). I dont know if you were talking about hold em specifically, but high stakes stud hi, stud h/l, horse; man those are all really great games to play. I think that the only time limit is worth it, is when its high stakes. Other than that, give me a mid ranged NL holdem MTT and ill be happy

I love playing the NL capped ring games on Full Tilt.

It's a perfect system for those who don't want to risk everything but want to play NL.

Some of the best games you can find online are limit cash games.
