I found some info about the Oregon player, LeGarrette Blount:
He intended to go to Auburn but did not qualify academically, so he went to junior college.
On 10 Feb 2009, Blount was suspended indefinitely by Ducks' head coach Mike Bellotti for "failure to fulfill team obligations". Bellotti would not elaborate on Blount's transgressions, but the running back was a no-show at various team meetings in the offseason.
He had to be restrained and escorted by police after the punching incident.
(I taught at a junior college had student football players. Some were great kids who had just come from underprivledged school districts. However, this Blount kid reminds me of a student I had--a running back as well--who was discovered to be in violation of his probation from his home state. Regardless, Blount cost himself a lot of money.)
