Favre fined $10,000 for crack-back block

NEW YORK (AP) -- Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for his crack-back block on Houston's Eugene Wilson in a preseason game.

The league said Friday that Favre hit an opponent below the waist on a run play as the Texans safety was moving toward the ball carrier. The game last Monday was televised nationally and the block caused some uproar in Houston and elsewhere around the league. Wilson injured his knee on the play.

The Favre soap opera will never end--until he marries Lance Armstrong. They kind of deserve each other at this point. And he got fined the same day (and I think for the same amount) as Red Sox pitcher Jonathan Papelbon for walking too slow from the bull pen. Maybe Papelbon should throw a crackback next time and get his money's worth out of the fine.

I never heard that before?? they have a time limit to get to the mound?? was he doing it on purpose ?? thats a very odd way to get a fine but I dont know anything specific about why they fined him, very weird.

I watched it over and over and he was just trying to ***** block the guy and not get hurt.

    It's preseason for christ sakes.

Why would an old guy display any malice towards anyone in preseason?

This is the worst fine ever.

in baseball the pitcher has a time limit on a few things. if he slowing down the game and which he has done a few time the mlb will fine them.

it not nt the point. those type of blocks can ruin a guys caree. you understand how bad that could of hurt he guys knee. its the same thing for lineman also. you can just go to block some one and take there knees out liek that. the nfl is only trying to procect its players. vice versa you can drill the qb down to the ground once he released the ball. i know its a gray area but still the nfl has to procect its assets.

What I know about football would fit in a thimble, but I do know that Favre is no rookie. Shouldn't he know by now what blocks are allowed and which ones aren't? It's not like he's been retired for 10 years and the game has changed dramatically.

will given on that play the vikes ran the wildcat formation and farve was lineed up as a wide out i doubt he has been in that positon before. he went for the easy block by taking the guys knee's out which is illegal. if he tried to just go up there and block him we would of got ran over

Maybe Favre can give someone a crackback block in a Wrangler commercial. The victim can be wearing Wranglers too, and rub his jeans when the paramedics carry him off the field. Favre's dog can chase after the ambulance.

Maybe he is so smart that he took the $10,000 fine instead of losing his life.
