Turn of TV, radio, phone, "get rid" of girlfriend, feed the cat and take a piss before a tournament. Nothing should disturb You. The only thing You should leave on is fire alarm.
Consider game as driving: hands on the wheel, eyes on the road. Even then You can have an accident, but that will be an exeption, not the rule.

I have been there many times myself. I am kickin it hard and suddenly phone rings or knock on door and I might as well rip my modem cable out of the wall because its all over right there. now when I am in a serious game music works the best for me I block the whole world out and rock!!

Nice advise. seams music works for everybody, but not for me. If I would put a headphone would be to make total silence. I think its because music influences my thoughts, and by that influences my play.. Would make my game different listening to hard rock or soft reggae...
When Im very bored doing other things help me to keep on tre track, like watching youtube videos, or iven playing video games while playing poker...
crazy.. but it works for me! sometimes! The best for me is total silence.
