And you may have been mistaken by some of what you said in your earlier statement. But prob not all of it. I don't think you should change at all. If you changed then you would not be Ringo. I happen to like Ringo. Maybe just oh never mind it.
It is very difficult to communicate through writing sometimes as we don't see expression or hear tone of voice. But it's all good! Meeting people and really getting to know them takes time as there are so many aspects to each life. Once we do know someone we sometimes find that we were wrong about what we thought we knew about them in the first place. So don't kid yourself with hasty opinions to soon because our opinions are just that. My dad always say's that opinions are like butt holes we all have them. If we didn't we would be miserable.

Oh and Ringo I forgot to say thank you for being able to keep an open mind and having the ability to change your opinion. Another good asset to posses.
This is something that you have issues about with your father. As his opinions become judgmental. Which encourages the mind to narrow not allowing the ability to be open to suggestion and/or to different points of view. Thus not giving a way to change them if it is necessary or so then desired. In other words (set in ones ways).

I am growing every single day.
I do listen to others advice as well as my own.
I wasn't always a good listener, in fact I never was.
This forum have taught me to be one. I am truly grateful for that my fellow members and friends. As a family we are growing and it is a beautiful thing to be part of. I love you all.
