I don't understand how my play is worse than the guys for betting all the way with 23 offsuit.

If I won the hand, and I did I think I played it better than he did.

Does no one see that side of it?

I posted it to show, I'm not the only "bad" player as you lot like to point out sometimes.

And I can deposit with my own money but I haven't done so lately because I am waiting on my pay check because I had to pay rent, etc.

If he played 23 off suit with the intention of bluffing you off your utter garbage then he played it fine. We dont know as he hasnt posted.

We can either assume he called on a gutshot and made, what is in my opinion, a very good sized bluff at the river.

Or, we can assume he meant to do this all the way along.

Its a random error that occurs occasionally.

And the 2 moves were different.

You = Calling with nothing.
Him = betting with nothing....

Betting to win a pot with nothing is something you have to do, and in this case, he did it well. As you had nothing, his bet wins him the pot from you, who couldnt and souldnt win it

Ok, my first comment of many is why on earth you would limp UTG with 5/8 off suit with EVERYONE to act behind you. Now, you get lucky and it goes to a cheap flop. The flop is the most passive limp flop I've ever seen. The turn is an interesting street. You lead out for 80, but your action preflop screams I missed everything so far. You get 2 callers and now have to decide what to do. Knowing you missed everything so far Domnacetion bets out pot, trying to bluff you off of your trash. I don't know how on earth you made the call on the river.

After reading all of the comments above mine, I'm not sure you ever want to learn how to play poker. The comments are telling you that while you won the hand you made a horrible play by limping in with 8/5 off suit. This hand should of been over before it started. Now you say that "oh, it's just a freeroll." Well I'm here to tell you that if you want to be a good player, EVERY game should be played as serious as the biggest buy in game ever. You develop habits every game you play, some good and some bad. If you make -EV moves in a free game, you are likely to make -EV moves in a money game. My only advise would be to pick up a book on how to play poker and READ IT. LEARN IT, KNOW IT, and FOLLOW IT.
