    Default Something new about religion

Well I don't exactly know if it is new or not, but it's something new to me.

And it's about religion in case you didn't get that from the title.

I've been doubting if God existed which all Christians do at some point or another.

Maybe not the existence but for sure they doubted God to an extent.

And this is what I've been thinking.

    Brace yourself, it's mind blowing.

What if someone made up the existence of God, because they got depressed that there was no after life.

I'll try to explain what I'm trying to say, but it might take me a few sentences.

Animals don't know there is a tomorrow.

They live each day as it is.

In the present and that's all they know.

As humans, we know there is a tomorrow, and the next day, and the next.

It would only be natural that we want life to continue in some sort of form because of the above, so we think about an afterlife.

    When animals die, that's it.

    They are just dead.

What if this is what really happened?

But everyone was just too scared to admit that they were afraid of not being anymore, so the believe in this god.

This god, that can promise you eternal life, and everything good, after death on earth.

If you obey his commands, and everything.

It's just something I was thinking about and wanted to share with everyone.

Half the time, I believe in God.

Half the time, I believe this is what really happened.

    Please share your thoughts.

you were getting really close to a point i want to share with you...humans are animals...humans are mammals, but a mammal is an animal too! why are we any different from an ape? other than ability of brain function and lack of being covered in hair, were not! The American dream is to own a big house and have nice stuff, find a mate, and raise kids, and grow old...not too much different from the life of a penguin...penguins are born and the learn the basic survival needs(food, water, swimming, mating) and so do humans... food, drink, walking, and mating...ofcourse in our society you have to work to do these things...

I grew up in the catholic faith, 12 years of schooling, and sitting through church, only to find out that the catholic church has ALOT of priests/nuns who are TERRIBLE people!!! 2 priests of 2 seperate schools i went to associated with the church were re-assigned in a different country not county...for you know whatting with a you know whattie!

not to mention EVERYONE hated nuns, and for good reason...these women were complete BEE-OTCHES to me and my classmates, i never had ONE nice and caring nun all through my 12 years...yes there were 2 really nice priests who supported my classmates and were influential people in doing moral good throughout life.

if you are looking for more information on the catholic church, you tube george carlin's ten commandments stand-up, hilarious but scarily it makes alot of sense to me... i'll search around for it and post it in this thread!

well i think that religion sucks. it kills millions of people a year. geez that has to be such a sore subject. i believe that there is no god because no one has ever seen him and i believe the bible has been misinterpreted by so many that it was turned into what it is today. Jesus was just a guy that ran a village in the middle east. well his followers spread his word around. and that is what we have today. he was a normal. man. **** i have a friend named Jesus and he dont believe in it. well im done with this thread.

Most Christians who consider themselves one of faith are usually not aware of what the bible states. For example" As a Christian, you are to commend death to the non believers. I don't see this happen that much. lol

There is a lot of discrepancy in the bible so I hear what you are saying. The real question is whether you believe it is more likely that you are going to a magical heaven or dead soil.

For those who are Christians, they have faith for an after life. As Scientist from NASA study Mars... there is life there.. Water frozen on the outside, and ground water... This means life is occurring. If you don't believe that.. why does NASA already have a mission together for Mars within the next ten years for departure. Everything is in line and they know how to even change the atmosphere. You may be asking why that matters.. Well... Why would we go to Mars... What's wrong with our planet that God created for life in 7 days, when there's life on Mars...

the way i see it kaci is its better to believe. Let me explain... If

you dont believe in god and there is a god then you are doomed.

But if you believe and there is a god then your ok you see? Id tell

you to seek a pastor. Ok then how it is that we the people are

going thrugh what is said in the bible? God blessed me with joe

and my daughter and i thank him everyday for them.

I went to Catholic school for 6 years and I was made to believe in God.
After 49 years, I believe in a high power than God, myself.
If God is real, that is what he would want you to believe in, yourself.
Why would God want a bunch of tired lemmings around him in Heaven.
Wouldn't he want to be around a bunch of self confident intellects that would stimulate conversations. Yes god, what ever you say?
or But God, I must disagree with you on this subject.
If you believe in youself, all things are possible.
If you believe in God and not yourself, what good are you to anyone?
Believe in yourself and be true to your emotions and you will never have to question your beliefs. You will be too busy enjoying your life.

I totally agree and have talked to many people about this.

Do you really want to believe just in case the bible turns out to be true?

I don't think I would want to believe just because of that reason and that reason alone.

It was just something I have been thinking of an wanted to share.

And I know humans are animals but I was thinking more along the lines of, dogs don't know or remember a tomorrow.

They can't go back and remember, because they are dogs.

Get what I'm trying to say?

It's just a simple life for them, and ours is much more complicated than that simple existence.

no not just for that reason, but to validate the purpose of beliefing in a

simplifed explanation. And yes we are animals, and even though we as

humans have made things complicated way beyond the normal natural order

of things, It is nice to know that maybe there is a chance of a better

tommorrow after life on earth. As far as dogs, even though my chihuahuas

cant tell me the time of day, or if there is a tommorrow, they can remember

things, such as scratching at the door to be let outside to potty. I have seen

dogs remember how to sit, roll-over, be excellent guard dogs or police dogs.

So no i dont believe we are the only species with an intellectual intelligence,

and that god created all his creatures equally.

    I didn't mean animals can't remember things.

I just meant that they don't know there is a future to look forward too.

    Get what I'm saying?

why do u have to believe in god. because someone told u to. like your pastor. u can believe in anything u want. its all about self satisfaction. u cant say i will be doomed because i dont believe in him. my wife and i blessed ourselves with our 2 girls. no one else did. everything that i have in my life today are things that i worked hard for. no one gave them to me. as for seeking a pastor why would i do that he is apart of a fortune 500 business in running a church. do u believe in someone that has molested little boys. seems like a bunch of pastors and ministers and even higher people of the bible have been indicted but the church bought them out of it to sav face. does anyone remember this. i mean really what a joke. how can u forgive this. people say it was a mistake that the priests made but damn thats alot of mistakes. seems like they it was there right to be able to do this. religion sucks. kills to many people. countries hate eachother over religion. look at the jews and the rest of the middle east. nuff said. and ringo i like the vid.

This is why I always say, keep the religous stuff in the house, and not in the office. It just such a wildly debated subject, that itll start wars and people end up hurt and killed over beliefs. The state of the church these days is indeed a sad fact, but even supposed men of god(preist, pastor etc) are not immune to sin. It is perfectly ok to hold church in the privacy of your safe haven and home, without worrying about those guys. I dont believe in god because somone told em to, but because of my freedom of choice. If you dont thats cool, im not the type to call ya outside and make war, I accept people of beliefs. Im not racial, i hate everyone eqaully lol.

Well said Globug, everyone has their right to believe what they wish. But some religions like Christianity believe that others are going to hell for not being Christian. What about the kids who are born Islamic and have never heard of the outside world nor Christianity..?
