You can't get too down on yourself too much for losing a freeroll. To place that high in a freeroll is good. Play it 10 more times and you will be sure to at least cash. It sucks in any tournament to sit there for a couple of hours and then place just below the bubble. And that is okay. Trust me, I get so frustrated when it happens to me but if you continue to play well and accept the fact that you may not cash and you may spend hours doing it, you will win happily. At least you put your money in bad rather than having a bad beat to exit the tournament. I think that is the complete worst. Because you know you played well, and you are left with a bad beat.
