What does it mean to play in a bubble?

I keep reading about the bubble, but I don't understand really.

Is it coming in 4th place?

Finishing on the bubble means you missed the money by 1 place.

The bubble is in reference to the position in a poker tournament right before the money, or in our case, chips start to be awarded. In the NDN chip games, there's kind of a "double bubble" in play, as the person who "bubbles", ie. doesn't get first, second, or third place (or more if there are a lot of people), still gets chips. Normally though, the bubble doesn't have to be fourth, it's just the last person who finishes the tournament before the money. So if top 18 are paid, the 19th finisher is the bubble, if top 9 are paid the 10th person is the bubble, and so on. Does that help?

The bubble is the big round thing those kids that have no immune system have to live in so they don't die. Or the thing that comes out of your mounth when you blow into your bubble gum. Hence the word bubble gum. LOL no they told you right. last person to loose who doesnt get paid. Now when this time gets close alot of players are very tight so its a time you can clean up on chips if your aggressive cause no one wants to be the bubble. So if your short stacked its a good time to start pushing with the right hands

here is a story for you.

I was playing in a MTT and the taj mahal in AC.

5 spots got paid and we had seven left. I knocked out a player and since we all knew the next guy/girl that would be knocked out would be the bubble.

well we all came to an agreement that everyone would through 10 bucks each for the bubble and it came to 60 bucks. buy in back.

Yes the bubble is the person where you don't usually cash so you are on the bubble of cashing.

For the NoDepositNeeded tournaments our bubble cashes but when people are usually speaking they don't make money therefore they were the bubbleboy or bubblegirl.
