    Default Shades

This thread is going to be about people playing with sunglasses on in LIVE GAMES.

I went to deal a poker game tonight, everything worked out by the way and I was feeling odd when I saw people I play with every night at the freeroll, wearing shades, just two or three, whereas at the freeroll they don't.

Why would people wear sunglasses during a cash game and not a freeroll.

It just doesn't make sense to me.

Wearing sunglasses is not going to change your luck one bit.

Neither do I think it's going to change your table image, so why decide to wear them indoors anyways.

To me I THINK it makes the player look dumb for wearing sun shades inside a building but that's just me.

I see some pros wear shades and some don't.

It's also just an opinion, but if you need to wear sunglasses to gain and edge at the poker table, you might want to rework on your game and not play cash, and just stick to the freerolls.

    Anyone agree or disagree?

I think it's a good thing to discuss because it's common enough in tournaments to see people wearing them.

well i dont wear glasses at all when playing live poker. all i need is my ipod and im good. i think it is funny when i see players with them on but each there own. i dont knock it. i tried once to do it and i didnt enjoy it. people tend to give tells with there eyes so that the main reason. or some people are just to paraniod. they need to come up with something for peoples hands. i remember playing a cash game in arizona and the pot got big and on the river of a big hand with 3 players 1 was me i seen one guy try to put a check raise on me and by him putting his chips out his hands were shaking like a crackhead looking for a fix. i laughed and folded the other guy called ( heh didnt catch it) and sure enough the guy had a boat and had my flush beaten. he totally gave away his tell. then after the hand i told him to control his hands. he laughed and said this was his 4th time playing live cash. well any how im glad to see that your chioce worked out for u.

I dont care if people wear sunglasses.

however I use my eyes to trap people. for example i was playing a live tourney at the casino and i made a semi bluff and when i did it i looked up and two the left. well he call my small bluff and gave me a smile... later that tourney i had the nuts with 35off and the same guy was in the pot with me. what did i do, i made a strange bet and looked up and to the left!!!! well he called with bottom pair. I won more chips that hand because it was later in the tourney.....

    So overrall i hate sunglasses!!!!

The reason for wearing sunglasses I think is to hide where your eyes are. If you wear them during any poker game for the right reasons, then you can view players action without them knowing where your eyes wonder. In live poker, you can see what players do when they check, call, raise, etc. This is because people have tendencies to do the same thing without knowing it. That is why they call it a poker face. But having sunglasses on, enhances the poker face image and can only help you.

Why people don't wear sunglasses during a freeroll?

    - Because I think the people don't know why they are wearing them or is not important giving the field of players. Those who don't understand why people wear sunglasses lose what other players observe.

I don't enjoy wearing sunglasses when I play either.

I'm good with an ipod and a soda.

That's all I really need because if I'm thirsty I can take a sip.

And if I need good music I just put my headphones on and ignore the jukebox playing, in my opinion, the crappy music.

I'm pretty low maintenance in everything, but especially in poker games and situations of the sort.

Can you really trap people with your eyes though.

I've never thought people were telling tells with their eyes.

To me tells are more about betting, and then you can see if someone's hands are shaking that they have a good hand, etc.

    It can work I guess.

I just never can pull it off, so I don't try after the first two times, I tried it.

I didn't think about letting people not know where your eyes wonder to.

I just thought it was stupid because we play in a poker room where it's got three or four lights above the tables, one above each.

But it's not really light and you need to be able to see your cards, so that's why.

It's all in good fun and a freeroll though.

That's what I was saying earlier.

I like to see my cards.

I actually need to be able to see my cards, when I am playing poker so I just don't wear them.

This has been a pretty good thread discussion.

Glad I posted to find out everyone's opinion.

betting patterns are also a tell (online this is your only tell)

Live can get very tricky and thats why i have won a couple of live games!!!

you can play a lot of tricks with your eyes....i will tell you one more tell with your eyes! after a bet and someone is starting at the chips in the pot! bluff! (most of the time)

there are a lot of tells through live games. Most online amtuer can not play live! so you have to practice both!

I just try to play my cards.

I can't bluff well in live games.

So I just can't try at all.

Oh well, I will just try to pray to the pokergods! to get better poker cards.
