Default Chip Buy in games make you a better player

Most of us have played in our chip buy in games.
We have seen tight players and loose players.
We have seen bad plays and great plays.
We see the same players day after day.
Because of this we are better players.
We are forced to respect each others varying styles.
Since we know each others games so well, we learn to
be more thoughtful in our decisions.
No freeroll mentality would work in the chip game.
You have to bring your A game to our chip buy in.
Hell Eejit cashes even when he doesn't show up.
    What does that tell ya?
We are all playing poker to win it.

Hands down best chip game ever; when tay came back from 60 chips to either win it, or take second to me, i forget which one. I know tay definately made top two after being down to 60 in the early stages. THATS poker baby!!
Close second, Eeej comin in third without playing a hand (which might be a conflictory arguement to yours; how can someone sit out the whole tourney with good players and still place :-p) But im just being arguementative. On the whole i think ur right ringo. Tays play is definately a nice demonstration of that.

You keep playing with great players, and youll have to become great... that or lose ur shirt. But its definately one extreme or the other. Theres no "so so"
players, theres no middle ground. Thats what I love about it

I believe I did make second in that game, but that was one HELL of a game, baby! I really don't know what was going through my head exactly but after that bad beat on the second or third hand I just got really stubborn and determined to win it! Also having the encouragement from Ringo just made me unstoppable that day. What a thrill. Thank you for remembering that, it means a lot to me that someone thought I did well. I was just in it to win it, and whether I did or not I came damn close. I hope I can have another game like that some day soon, but hopefully I won't have to make such a long comeback to win. If I do though I won't complain, because I know I can do it! Thanks again for your praise, it means a lot! If I can do it, anyone else can too!

Exactly. With the right combination of luck and skill, anyone can do it. Thats what i love about poker. You could be blind, deaf, paralyzed, foreign (:-p), whatever, you can still play. They even amended the rules of the WSOP to allow a blind man to play. He just had a card reader, whisper him his cards, and then call out the board... im pretty sure that he placed. So if tay can come back from 60 chips in a one table SG, and a blind man can place and the main event of the WSOP, then anyone can do anything at anytime :-p.
I also remember seeing an older wsop main event with some former homeless guy.. think his name was sammy or something. I remember they did a behind the scene thing with him, and he was telling about how he was homeless, and at one time he lost 2k in pennies... yikes. But he places for 37k in the main event, and everyone around him i believe humbled up a lil. POker is a great game, becuase quite literally, everyone can play, everyone can win. We are all part of something bigger here

These are really good games. It brings back the topic of how anonymity (spelling) in online poker makes worse play. When you dont personally know the people you are against or they are not seeing your face in person, you often have the tendency to make some plays that you never would make if you were to see that person face to face. I think by knowing everyone on these chip games and the fact that they all know you in the forum makes everyone more concious of their decisions. I mean think about it... Their has to have been a time when at one point in a hand you didnt want to call down and reveal you were drawing or you called pre-flop with a horrible hand, in fear that the person will see you as a bad player for the rest of the time you know them.

Anyways that is just my 2 cents, as i know i play better in the chip games, as apposed to any other regular game online (unless i am playing for a huge prize). And yea, eejit does cash sometimes without even playing a hand, but thats just eejit he finds a way to cash during everything and i mean everything.

I agree completely with you here.

I know I try harder not to suckout in our chip games than I worry about in the regular games I play online, because if I do eejit will completely insult my play.

Not like he doesn't already to that, in the hand analysis thread, but I think you get my point.

I'm so much better off playing in the chip games, because I actually try and don't get so bored, but I get very bored with regular games on any of the sites.

Being a part of this forum that is a gambling intensive forum, people want to be viewed as good poker players by everyone and they are much less likely to call with marginal hands for their tourney life.

Plus the chips rewarded are a very good reward for all of us a part of this system and we want in on this part of the action.
