Though there have been Viet Nam critics who complained that it took too long for Cronkite to say the war was unwinnable, at least he said it at all, and he was the first in the mainstream to do so. So give the man his due respect.

Cronkite's college roommate was actor Eli Wallach. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall with those two. I bet they had some fun, had some great conversations. I like that college roommate pairing even better than the Tommy Lee Jones/Al Gore combo.
