I know I played this hand terribly, just looking for some advice. I am in the small blind in a .5/$1 cash game and I have pocket 8's. There are three limpers already so I decide simply to call (I think this was my first mistake). Big blind checks. Flop is 8-6-5 with two hearts. I check, checked to the button. Button bets $6 I raise to $20, then the big blind raises another $20 to $40, folds back to me and I shove another ~100. Big blind only had another ~$50, but I get an insta-call. Big blind has 9-7, turn: 4 river: 3 and I'm out ~$90. Can I raise pocket 8's from the small blind preflop? I know I have to raise any flush draws out once the flop comes. What do I do when I get re-raised? Do I give him credit for 9-7 in the big blind in an un-raised pot pre-flop and fold, or should I just call and see what happens on the turn. There is 4 to a straight on the board once the turn comes making the fold easier. I realized later that shoving was really stupid because I am only getting called by a hand that beats me here. Input appreciated. Thank you.
