    Default Playing Environment

I wanted to start a thread on everyone's preferred playing environment. I know that when I play live, I can be more or less stressed out in the game just by being surrounded by a different environment. I believe that not only can your environment affect your play, but the results you encounter can also affect how you respond the relative environment, both on and off the tables. How do you change your environment to where you are most comfortable, to give yourself the best opportunity to do well? Whether it be in your actual home, office etc, or just the way you change you screen layout and table options (felt color, rail, w or w/o avatars). Since I've just recently got back into the online game I quickly found out that I was very unhappy trying to stay focused on the couch or in bed with my laptop so I put a little money into creating a little office, both for poker and my school online. I can say that since I feel like I am doing something more purposeful at my desk than I do lounging around, I think that it will begin to improve the degree of seriousness I take my games online, because too often I just say F it, and throw my money away. (Don't act like you have never done that). Attached is a picture of my little set up, my comfort zone if you will, and I'd like to see and hear about yours as well. Holla.

    This is my poker environment.

I play on my laptop laying or sitting in my bed, with the radio or a podcast on, and logged into NDN.

I play with the silver background on tilt and on ps and ftp I play with four color decks so I don't miss any flushed, etc.

I like to block avatars on ftp and ps, and it seems to work the best this way for me.

I always have one seat I sit in and I always choose the sit me here, option whenever I get seated.

I can't stand to sit anywhere else.

    Good topic Hydro.

I play in the living room where we have 2 computers set up on opposite sides of the room.

I tried the bedroom but it is too cramped in there for longterm uses.

    Oh my back

My playing enviroment is the same. In the comfort of my home, where I can

smoke a cigarrete if i want, eat a big ol sloppy cheeseburger in peace

witoutsomeone complaining about greasy cards. I got it set up right next to

my big screen, so i can watch nascar or UFC, that way I wont get too

restless the longer tournys, even though most of the time its on sponge bob

    or penguins of madagascar!

My idea place for me to set up my computer would be outside somewhere under a shady tree. it just so much more quite out there and the weather is nice this time of year in NY.

But for now i have to live with having my computer hookup in my corner in the living room. i listen to noogin all day long from my son watching his shows. most of the time i put on my head phones and listen to music when i play or give eejit a hard time. at night when everyone else is asleep is like when i feel most at peace on the computer.

I usually play lying down on the bed (on my stomach) in Klink's and my room at our apartment. If we're playing in the same tournament, he either sits at the small table across the room from me, or out in the living room at the kitchen table. If not, sometimes he'll come snuggle up next to me and watch me play, or let me watch him play. I often watch him play while he's working at his job sitting at the front desk of the dorms here on campus.

As far as online vs. live- the only live poker experience I have so far is in a casual environment with friends on our college campus, as Klink is not old enough to accompany me to a casino because of the stupid liquor laws. I enjoy playing live, but I prefer playing online, for a non-poker related reason- the physical chips are difficult for me to keep moving around after long periods of time due to the weakness in my arms now. I can play mostly pain free online, which is nice.

I play all my poker in three places online- the NDN poker room, PDC for NDNPT games, and FullTilt for all other games. I always sit in the seat closest to me at the table, as I've discussed in an earlier post. On FullTilt, I use the beach background with the avatars (mine's a turtle!), but I've never tried the four-color deck. Maybe I should try it out sometime?

I just tried the 4 color deck and decided I don't like it. For some reason the brightness of the blue and green hurts my eyes, and the green is also pretty hard to see against the felt in my opinion. At least on FullTilt.

And I'm a dumbass, in my earlier post I said I used the beach background- that's the one that Klinkman uses. I use the jungle background. It always freaks me out when the ninja avatars come to join empty seats at my table, lol.

I'm glad to see this thread found some participants, I was starting to worry for a second once it was pushed off the New Posts page with no replies. I also dislike the 4-color deck, however, I do prefer the Alternative deck on Stars as opposed to the traditional. I really like the 'under a shady tree' environment. I have a king-size inflatable raft, which has a 6-pack cooler in one arm rest, and an anchor; I'd like to go float around in my pool with my laptop and flip a session, but I can't beat the glare. Any suggestions?
