Default Cyber Socializing vs. Real Socializing

This post is more for the married couples more than the singles.
Though the singles should take note as well.

We all need socializing in our lives.
How we do it is changing for the better.

Online socializing is becoming more and more popular.
Though the old timers shun our twitter behavior, they just are not part of it to understand the true power and importance of online socializing.

Example: Couple gets a baby sitter for the night so they can go to a bar with friends and socialize. They do the smart thing and walk home.
She trips on a curb and messes up her knee and ends up on crutches and can't work for a week. He trips on a parking stopper and fall and lands on his chest and cracks a rib.

Point is: they dont have a computer and the desire to socialize for them was so overwhelming that they tried to do too much in one night.

Where else but online forums can you chat with numerous FRIENDS at any
given moment of the day? Where else can you share intimate secrets about yourself in such a short time?

In the real socilizing venues, there is too much Ego and posturing to cut through, to see the real people you are socializing with.
It could take years to get to know a persons true self.

Online socializing is safe because if you drink you don't have to worry about getting home. One drunk driving will set you back years in the socializing dept.

Also the power of the written word is so much more powerful and meaningful that the verbal.

You can learn alot more about a person in a forum, than in a bar.

I agree. But don't you think it has gotten to the point in our generation where Online Socializing is Real Socializing and there really isn't a difference.

I believe the above of what I said to be true, but you do make good points.

One day our job applications will have your myspace url, twitter url, and Facebook url, on the requirements to get the job.

    Scary thought, huh?

    You are still young.
I have lived in both worlds.
I would rather socialize on line than play shoot em up games.

Online is the best way I believe too. It's how I get over 85% of my work done.

It's my non-poker related work I am talking about also.

I do a lot of socializing online but it will never totally replace offline socializing for me. I do however spend a lot of time offline with people I met online. It's a great way to find people with similar interests.

Online socializing is great to meet people from all over the world. Chances are you will never meet these people, but still consider them friends. Yes, at home, with coctails, and a computer alot of times your true feelings do come out. Locally though, I prefer to meet you at happy hour instead of chatting online or on the phone. Since I have been stuck at home with way too much time on my hands, I have learned to appreciate my online friends alot more. We have grown to know each other in a very short time and I have actually spoke to my husband about a few of you. Maybe eventually he'll get involved too. I keep trying to get him on here. He just now made his first facebook page, which he thought was silly at the beginning, but now I think he is starting to like it. Thank you all!!!
