Do you agree or not.

I opened my yahoo mail account and when you click on news stories some times you are able to click on other stories that you may find interesting or insightful.

I did and found the following article on things you should never talk about with casual acquaintances.

They pointed on the trinity of what not to talk about right off the bat.

Religion, Politics, and Money for obvious reasons.

Religion, you know, because however well you know a person, they might be the wacky one to try to convert you to some insane, in your point of view, religion. And they pointed out the thing about even if they don't try to convert you do you want to listen to a My-religion-is-better-than-yours, or worse yet, a You-will-burn-in-hell-for-eternity-if-you-don't-convert spiel? I figured no one does, and that's why it's part of "The don't talk about Trinity".

Politics because during election seasons, people feel called-upon to campaign for their favorite candidates or causes. This can be a chance to find out more about important issues, but it can also lead to mud-slinging at all levels. Not everyone understands that they won't be able to change people's minds by hurling insults. This is the one thing I have problems with keeping my mouth shut about because I like voicing my opinions but I try to do it in a respectful manner.

Money is the last one I included in what I call "The don't talk about Trinity". I made that name actually but it's for obvious reasons that it is included. And that would be if I am barely getting by, I don't want to hear about somebody buying Lamborghini's and houses left and right while I am trying to make ends meet.

The interesting thing is the following are things they threw into the don't talk about category and I don't really agree so I was wondering what you guys thought on the issue.

Please do comment.

Vacations- While not a volatile topic, this is one that is of interest to only a few listeners. If you have no intention of going to the places being discussed, hearing about them can seem like a sedative. Pictures of strangers standing in front of dull landmarks make it even more boring.

Pets- Mentioning dogs or cats can be an invitation to a lecture about how wonderful certain ones are, or how awful others are. Pet-owners who think of their animals as family members sometimes get carried away with describing their adorable antics.

Children- Parents comparing notes on how their children are doing when they go through various stages of development can be reassuring. Parents who get almost as carried away as some pet-owners when talking about their little ones can be infuriatingly boring.

Computers- The relationships that some people have with their computers can rival the ones others have with kids or pets. They will go on and on about how wonderful the computer is since they upgraded it, describing its abilities and functions lovingly.

I agree the pets, and kids, some people can get too overexcited about and your colleagues might not want to talk about but I'm gonna say a big puh-lease! to the vacations and computers.

I don't think people would be bummed about the vacations they don't get to go on and if you ask someone about a computer in a nice way, someone can help you out, but you don't have to brag about your new pc.

In fact the only time I have mentioned my pc to an acquaintance is when I am asking about a problem I'm having with it.

That's all I thought on the situation and I was wondering what you guys thought about it, so let me know.
