There are many times this play is good and many times when this play is bad. If you are sitting first and are in a good position to win, chopping can be bad. If you are in last and close to going out, chopping is great. It all depends on the terms of the chop. This is where the negotiations begin. Most players only chop when the pay out get's around the 10's of thousands of dollars. You don't see chops very often in a smaller buy in tournament.
