Going for first is always important. However, one thing to remember that poker is not a results oriented game. Not in any fashion should the manner in which the cards peel off affect your view of how you played the hand. It is a game of pre-flop action and three streets, and you can only play accordingly to that specific time in the hand. However, you should have a reasonable understanding of the numbers that dictate how to play appropriately. Im going off on a tangent so Ill leave that there at just work on learning the numbers, as they will better help you learn to strategize around your read and perception of an opponents hand strength. That being said, If you get it in with ak v 33, it is okay to win or lose. Sometimes it may feel like you lose 3/4 flips, but in the long run it will pave out I assure you. Keep in mind poker isn't about winning or losing, it is about making the right decision.
