Default BB vs All-in short stack

How many times have you been in the big blind late in a game
and a short stack pushes all in against your big blind.
Say the big blinds are 1000 and you have 20000 chips.
The short stack has 3300 chips and you are holding 9-4 off.

    What do you do?

    fold- why?
    call-why?

Fold I have no luck when it comes to hand like that. They could have anything and even though I have 2 live cards I would lose.

Luck has ntohing to do with it.

    Lets look at ringos situation.

SS pushes your BB of 1k. For 3300 aparently.

So in the pot is 10x antes (1k) the SB (500) the BB (1k) and the push (3,300)

Total in the pot is - 5,800.

Your having to call 2,300 to win 5,800.

So, thats 2.5-1 give or take.

Now, what you do is assign him a range. Which is ANY hand possible. So meh.

Now, vs AK your getting better than 2.5-1 to win. Against a middle pair your still better than 2.5-1. Against A2 or J3 or something, your way better than 2.5-1.

The only hands that have you dominated are 99+, A4, A9 (or any bigger cards than a 9 with a 4 kicker) And thats it.

This should be an instacall. Every single time.

The amounts i stop instacalling is about 2-1. Anything less than that and i have to take in table image, previous hands shown and stuff. But in Ringos situation if you dont call then you need to seriously consider becoming more agressive in these kinds of situations. Its -EV to fold here.

The ONLY time id fold is if i were on the bubble of a sattelite event. If i was shorter stacked, idd easy fold AA to sit out into a seat.

usually, if i have any kind of utility where 2300 extra wont hurt me, like eejit says, i INSTACALL, because it does alot for your stack AND your image...i probably call with any face card by itself lol...your facing one opponent and you prob only have to hit one card...now if u made a call and are dominated by ur high card, then so be it...who cares its only a few more chips...

"its only a few more chips"?????

    Wtf?!

Never put chips in the pot with that mentality. I mean, if youve worked out the odds and equity, as i just did in this scenario, fine, but you should always be putting chips intot he pot for a reason, not because you "can"

Excellent answer Eejit. I knew the answer already.
I was hoping to help those who did not understand that situation.
Also I find that the BB will win that showdown like 3/4 times.
