Congrats on the win. I know it takes patience but keep playing low stakes tournaments until you can build up a bigger bankroll. This will increase your experience and skill level eventually as well, so when your bankroll is bigger you'll be more able to compete and win against your opponents in higher stakes tournaments. Best of luck to you.

You're welcome! Believe me I know because I've been where you are right now, sort of. I started playing at FullTilt after I cashed in $50 worth of chips from NDN, and I've done that twice now. I also had a win from one of our NDN Poker Tour Buy-In Games for $45. Ever since I started playing, I've only stuck to the $1 + $.25 Sit and Go tournaments, with one foray into a 3 dollar superturbo just to experience it since those are what klinkman plays, only at higher stakes. I have cashed in my last 5 tournaments in a row and am finally seeing a profit in my poker account.

My point is that no matter how much your experience increases (despite what freeringo may tell you) you really should let your bankroll dictate much of what tournaments you play. I hope he doesn't mind me sharing this, but klinkman has been playing poker for a lot longer than I have, and his bankroll is larger, but he used to play in higher stakes tournaments than he does now. Everyone who plays poker goes through a drought, even the best players, and klinkman was one of the unlucky people who went through such a drought. As a result, he's had to lower the amount he invests in each tournament he plays, despite his increased experience at the game.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that bankroll management is important for every poker player to keep in mind, and just because you're playing in lower stakes tournaments (especially if you have to drop down from what you're used to playing) does not necessarily mean you're any worse of a poker player.

Great finish those are hard to finish good in, so many people just go crazy in the small buy-in games, so you musta had alot of luck or great cards, so good for you.

Ill agree for the most part...

    But!

Superturbos are etremely high variance. You usually risking your tourney life on 2 all in hands minimum, they are fun for sure, but the most profitable way of a good poker playing wining money? No.

Turbo SNGs are where its at.

I wont deny that ST's are a good way of making money if you can have the patience to fold A8 and similar hands early on and wait for a bigger one, or take some calculated gambles, but from a strictly ROI point of view, your standard Turbo SnG is the best ROI machine out there.

well look at it this way. it was small but at least u hung in there. when u are trying to biuld a bankroll u have to start somewhere. dont play a bounty remember the bankroll management we ere talking about earlier. if ur gonna play anything i would say play a cash game. u can start off slow at a .2/.4 cent table then build from that. just remember keep the momentum going. feel the rush. lol good job though. u know what wait till u can play another one then build off of that.

Now that Cake has had super turbos for a while I decided to do a little research into attainable ROIs. I always assumed 1-2% was probably the highest attainable ROIs in the long run. I took a collection of players I considered good to figure out my #s. I think the results will surprise some people. Among these good players, they had played a total of 23,081 super turbos. Their average stake was $96.83 & their average ROI was just 0.274%! This should be an eye opener to those of you running at 2% or above over thousands of games. It’s extremely unlikely that your true ROI is actually that high. Super turbos can still be very profitable because of their length of time & rakeback, as long as you can handle the sick variance that comes with them. You will have negative ROI stretches over huge lengths of time. Hopefully people will start to realize the importance of table selection in super turbos. Games can become unprofitable much quicker than in regular turbos. Unless you have a rakeback deal like me on Cake (you don’t) there’s really no excuse for not using good table selection in super turbos. Too often I see games w/ the likes of 2 or more players like HappyLucky, buttabiscuit, JuneTLBKilla, odinnnn, avkalang608, etc… & it’s just ridiculous. I’m sure most of you have read my entry on table selection and variance. If not, you should do so now:

Super turbos are fun but like Eejit said you risk everything on 2 all in hands.
I also found that you must play the first 4-6 hands no matter what cards you have, if no one raises. Why? Because the levels go up every 2 hands and the 4-5 level blind will be more than the first 4-6 hands combined.
Do your math. Important to understand this.

ROI of 0.274% = break even

Ditto what everyone else is saying. Bankroll has GOT TO be the deciding factor in the games you decide to play in. It has to be more about playing good quality poker, rather than how much you cash. You can play good poker at any stake good advice all!
