Ak vs Aj

So twice this weekend i ran AK vs AJ and twice the AJ beat me.....just running bad but the 1st time i had Ak it was raise 4x the bb preflop and had 4 ppl total to flop....flop of A 58 rainbow.... the original aiser checks and a guy bets 12.....i smooth call and 2 ppl fold...when one folds he accidentally flips a J....turn falls J guy bets 16 i call river he bets 25 i call and he had AJ and hit a magical 2 outer

Next time was in a carbon tourny...i have Ak 7 bet it preflop flop falls Aj x...i bet 3/4 pot guy smoother calls turn K i think i am golden so i shove he snapcalls and riveres his j

just running bad par of poker...but gl all and have fun

haha, that made ma laugh out loud. what was the first tourney on, the way youre talking Id say it wouldve had to been tilt, theyre notorious for that. But i mean hey 2 outs in a deck of 44 or so, means there is still cards left in teh deck to beat u. I always forget about that when im way ahead, and the card comes and i cant believe it. Seems as though youve taken it in stride, which is a step in the right direction. Hope you have better luck at the tables, if you keep playing well like that, eventually it will fall in your favor (like it should anyways)

u know sometimes in those situations u just can do anything about them. its a really tough fold if u have the chance. its all about how the cards are dealt. i have had that many times. especially against AQ. nothing u can do about it except get a good read and fold if u think they got AJ. if you lay the AK down then u have gotten better at poker just by that lay down. remember its not the hands u win its the hands u didnt lose.

both hands are very good, everything depends on luck and what interests on the table, if I A in hand from the start is better, but consider that the best start of the player who has a pair in hand

There are those days when aj will do better, then the next day ak will rule. I just try to look for these changes and hope to make the best of them.

I dont know if its just my butt hole tightening as i get older :-p or what, but the longer ive played, the less and less I have seemed to value certain hands; in particular jj,qq,aq,aj. I use to put a lot more value into these hands, playing them pretty often, seems like the more im playing, the more im flat calling, or raising only when i have the best position. I frequently fold aq when im first to act. I thought i was nuts, until i watched a full tilt academy lesson about position. one of the pros actually said "people think im crazy for folding hands like aq when im first to act", so it definately reinforced my playing in my mind. But what fo u guys think, should i play those hands more aggresive, or is my soft approach best. It just seems that hands like those just lose me a lot of chips, or win me small pots... gone all in with qq and jj so many times and been outdrawn thats its like a joke sometimes.. i digress.. any thoughts?

not the aj or ak but the worst is when you call with kk and you go against ak or aj and you can feel the ace forth card down
