Default I'm Seriously Contemplating Moving To The USA

Figured i should post something "origional"

What im thinking is after the end of the summer season here in Blackpool (which is busy and fun) im gonna move there. Not sure where exactly, but i know ill land in MN and go visit our lovely forum admin bloke. From there its a case of finding a job, and accomodation.

Obviously I would want to travel round a bit, so id definatly go down to LA, LV, and NYC, any maybe Chicago (preferably when the Braves are there). Everyone on here is more than welcome to arrnange visitions from your favourite welsh person! (me, jsut incase)

So, what i was wondering is.....

Does anyone know what Id need in order to do this?

I know i need a passport, duh. I know i need a bit of money saved before i come.

Job wise, i can always look when i get there, ill have my croupier license sorted by then so casino work would be fun. Im awesome running a bar, im british too so that shud help. Id do anything as long as its fun...

Do i need a VISA, or insurance, or what?

    Anyone know?

    If so, let me know!

Post links if they are helpful, or advice, or anything.

I have a British friend who was an Au Pair in the States for a few years, I'll ask him what you'll need the next time I talk to him and let you know.

And if you come visit Klink and I in OK (if you're stateside by then we'll invite you to our wedding!), we'll give you all the Double Stuf oreos you want!

As a side note, how many people on here would be able to/interested in attending our wedding? It won't happen until at least next summer, maybe sometime in 2011 depending on some various complicated financial things.

There are several progams that the U.S government has in place for people of a another country to be able to come over and start your own business, maybe a gas station will work out good, but it wont be fun i think. You can also come in on a student visa which could get you in for 4 years or more, depending on the school and what your doing, and during that time you could be applying for permanent citizenship, or maybe marry in while your here. A charming lad like yourself should have no trouble at all!

Default You want to be a farmer?

You can stay at my cabin at 6000 feet for 7 months free rent.
No bills to pay. Just water my garden.

You will have to grow a beard to fit in.

    Default Or

I can hook you up with my best friend Simon.
He has a house in Plumas county (empty 5 months a year) and
a bed and breakfast in Nelson British Columbia.
You could stay for free there too. You just have to clean and do repairs,
cause he's a slob. But he has lots of money.

Don't do it. The economy in this country is in the toilet and will probably be there for a long time. Stay where you are, in a country that has decent culture as well. You'd be better off moving to Malta than here.

    Apparently i have a problem....

Thank you for taking the time to complete American Visa Bureau’s Online Assessment. Unfortunately, it appears you are not eligible for a visa to live and work in America for one or more of the following reasons:

You do not have a job offer from a US employer; and/or
You do not have family in America who are eligible to sponsor you; and/or
Your country does not have a treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation or a Bilateral Investment Treaty with the US; and/or
You do not have sufficient funds to invest in America.
