    Default Unbelieveable!

Suddenly after a day of strangely hot and humid weather, Out of no where, it begins to rain. right now this very minute. O-M-G And now there is thunder that is rocking my house, (I am terrified of the sound of thunder), and lightning that is flashing like a strobe light, I'm not kidding, It is weird. I have seen a lot of lightning but nothing like this. I am going to see if I can get a picture. Hopefully I will live thru this one. I am so freaked out. ewww!

*big hugs* I'm sorry sweetie. Storms terrify me too, I hate sudden loud noises. And the lightning is horrible for my arthritis. So I definitely understand where you are coming from! Stay safe!

Ah I remember it well! "The Battle of The Bays" The game was just about to begin, the Oakland A's and the San Fransisco Giants, World Series, At Candle Stick Park. Even though I was going to watch the game on TV from my Carson City, Nevada home, I was there at the game. When all of a sudden it hit. Wow! I got chills just thinking about it. The game never took place that day. It was like time stopped in mid air, chaos, and confusion. Then the game went off the air. Did you know that the Mervyn's store in CC had things that actually fell of the shelves due to that quake. What a horrible day for so many in the bay area. So many people died. To say that it was scary is an understatement to say the least.

It was def a sudden and scary storm, but nothing compared to that quake. Your right! It is still raining though, we lost power for a while, and every now and again I still hear the thunder roll. But it is nothing like it was when the storm first begin. It's rather peaceful now. I hope it's not the calm of it. I swear I could and would still crawl in bed with my momma and hide under the covers when I hear the sound of thunder.

We had grape size hail yesterday at 1pm, which has never happened here
in the 17 years I've been in the mountains. It's so cool, I love it.
We are expecting even more the next 2 days.
We have had more rain this last week than we had all last year.
Though we need the rain. It is the worst time of year to get it up here because the wild grasses are already 2-3 feet tall and they usually dry up in the next month. Now they are going to shoot up to 5-6 feet and really become a fire danger this summer. Watch out California will be burning soon.

This is the first hail storm you've had up there? We get the big hail a couple times a year. It is kind of neat. But dangerous to drive in. We do need the rain though for sure. But we certainly do not need any more fires for God sake. If California has fires like it did last year I will not be able to breath. My gosh The skies were dark and my asthma was bad.

The picture of the Sutter Buttes that I have in my album was taken during the fires that burned through Lassen, Tehama and Shasta counties last year. The entire sky was a deep, dark red orange. We thought they would never stop. we as in (ARC). So many homes lost.

that kinda weird, im wy in the NE of the US and the same thing happened. It was 80 degrees barely any clouds, and then it went from clear to heavy rain in about a minute. After about a minute of heavy rain, it turned to hail... in 80 degree weather, lasted for about 3-4 mins then it pretty much stopped. Ive live in new england for a couple decades and have no real recollection of it ever happening... weird man. GLOBAL WARMING!!! :-p

Plenty of hail in the past but never grape sized.
This early in the season is very unusual. Yeah that Moonlight fire was a big one last year. I drive through the chared trees every time I go to my cabin.
I just found out that lightning hit my property up there on Sunday.
I am going up Saturday and am hoping to get a picture of the ground where it hit. Too wet to start a fire thank god.
