Bankroll Mangement:NDN Chips

I have read alot of articles and posts on the theory of bankrool management. I have read that oneself shouldnt use more than 2% of your bankroll if your a highroller, say with like 10 grand in cash. I have read that you really dont need to go much higher than 1% of your bankroll if your an average everyday gamer, wether it be poker or casinoes, whatever your poison, I think the same rules should apply with one ofour forums most basic lifeblood, NDN Chips. Yes those chips everyone works so tiredlessly to stack up, pounding away at your keyboard, racking your brain to come up with original stuff, yuor fingers going stiff with blood dripping from the tips. I think most of will eventually end of with some form or another of degenerative arthritis. NDN Chips in my opinion are no different than actually cold hard cash, and should be managed no differently than actual cold hard cash.

I apply the same rules as i do with my poker bankrolls. I at the most will only buy-in with 2% of my bankroll, but 90% of the times i wont go higher than 1%, the exception being cash games, which unfortunately for me are my weakness in the management area. I will sometimes sit at a table regularly with 50% cash table, sometimes 100%, the whole enchalada, which Is not a good thing,but sometimes it pays off very nicely,plus keeps the adrenaline up high!

But for tournament i remain very committed to the 1-2% rule for the buy-ins. so let say that you have 1000 NDN Chips. Now if you say ok im gonna do a 400 chip buy-in once in a while when you only have 1000, which is 40% of your bankroll, then you absolutely have to win, or be crushed. Even if you only use 10% which is 100 chips per 1000, then you have ten oppurtunities to capitalize on you loses, but if you lose every single time, then back to bleeding fingers.

In order to be able to afford a 400 chip average buy-in using just 1%, that means you would have to have 40,000 chips.

But the NDN forum is unique in that it allows several different ways to earn chips, so i am gonna have to have lot of bloody finger tips if i dont be careful with how I spend my NDN chips, and i have a long ways to go before i can effectively manage my chip stack without feeling the pressure every time a buy-in to an event, which i have yet to do. I may try one or two this month, and hope and pray that i end up winning a nice chunk of the prize pool. I hope that this post will help some folks out and good luck in the month of june!

I only have 1400 chips.
Using your method, I would need a min. of 10000 chips to enter
a 200 chip tourney.
That's not going to work for me.
My statagy will be to wait a week or two, until everyone is out of chips and then play when there is only 3 players in it.

The standard rules are....

5% of your BR for Cash tables,
3% for SnGs,
2% for MTTs,
1% for rebuy MTTs.


Now, as for that affecting the chips games, lets argue.

I earn on average 600 chips a day here, yeah i post a fair amount, but alot of what i do is responses, or one line jokes, or various chats with other members. Nothing hard, and id say i could earn 600 in 30 minutes if i really tried.

Now, i know most people dont stay for tat long. So lets say they ear 400 a day.

The buyins per week for the June games average to about 2,800 chips. Thats 400 chips a day.....

So, if your earning 400 per day, and spending 400 per day, then you only need 400 to start with.

Lets say you win the first event.. and you win 3,000 chips. You can now only post for 100 chips a day and have 10 days to cash in another event.

And some of these events will have small fields (under 15) some may hve larger ones, and with 1,250 chips being added to every single game as far as i know, and possibly bounties too.....

You really dont need any chips other than the one buyin per day untill you cash in one of them.

Top 3 pay in games under 19 people. That gives you odds of 15%. Great odds for cashing. If your good at poker, your odds improve.

So techincally, while your rule for the NDN casino is brilliant, and why i thanked you, for the June games all you really need to do is be a bit active, and make 3 posts like this one every day

I really cant argue with you there becuase you do have an a excellent point. One of the unique things about NDN is the ability to post and reply for more chips, so if you incorporate that into your bankroll management as you have suggested, then all is good. You have some really great ideas, and i will keep those in mind.

LMAO this is a good strategy as well, but no seriously i think because you can earn chips posting and replying, then everyone should do fine!

This is by far the best stratagy yet.
Instead of me posting 3-5 huge posts a day or
saving my chips to play in 3-5 tourneys a week.
I can just bet BJ 25 chips and double up 4 times in a row.
That is bound to happen at least once in 4 trys.

Pure genius. I follow that rule to the T, and of all the different aspects of poker bankroll management is my worst area. Chris Ferguson has a good video on the tilt academy that says a lot of those same things. im sure everyones heard of his 0 to 10k on tilt, if not i suggest definately taking a look. Wonder if i need a degree from a ivy league school to do that???
