Was the man's name John Lennon?
" If you are a Beatles fan, or just simply interested in the history of Pop music, you've probably heard of "Revolution #9" and the subliminal messages (backward masking) that can be found in this White album sound collage. For those of you who are famliar with the "Paul is Dead" mithology, this is the track where the message "turn me on dead man" is supposedly heard when turning the phrase "Number nine" backwards at the begining of the song. Through the rest of life, John denied the alleged "backward masking" of this piece, he claimed he had found the "Number nine soundcheck tapes by accident. But the number 9, though, was very important in his life. The following is an excerpt of Ray Coleman's "John Lennon--The definitive biography" a great book on John Lennon:
"John was acutely aware of the fact that the number nine had dominated his life. He was born on Octover 9, 1940. Sean [Lennon's second son] was born on October 9, 1975. Brian Epstein first saw John and the Beatles at Liverpool Cavern on November 9, 1961, and he secured their recording contract with EMI in London on May 9, 1962. The debut record Love me do, was on Parlophone r4949.
John met Yoko Ono on November 9, 1966. John and Yoko's apartment was located on West 72 streeet, New York City (seven plus two making nine) , and their main Dakota apartment number was also, at first 72. The bus he traveled on as a student each morning from his home to the Liverpool Art college had been the 72. John's songs included "Revolution #9", "#9 dream" and "one after 909" which he had written at his mother's home at 9 Newcastle(nine letters) Road, Wavertree (nine letters), Liverpool(nine letters)."
