i was playing one of the millions gold chip giveaway freerolls on pokerhost yesterday and I was leading by a considerable amount (20000 lead by first break). Then some jerk goes all in a few times and I fold each time and by the 5th or 6th time he pushed in a row I called. Well I had ace king suited and he had Aces. I couldn't believe how bad my luck was... so he took maybe half my stack ( he must have had to go or something). Anyway what really upset me was maybe an hour later in the tourney. I was no longer chip leader ( maybe in 16th place or so) and I have king queen suited. The flop hits K 9 3. so naturally i raise. I raised 6000 (my stack was 30000 and my opponent was 33000). Anyway the next card to fall was a ten. So i raised another 6000. He calls. And on the river a queen fell. I was so sure I was winning that i pushed all my chips in ( I had two pair at this point). Anyway, the guy calls and it turns out that he has ACE JACK! I couldn't beleive anyone would stay in for half of their stack on something so improbably. I was really upset, but luckily it was only a freeroll and there are a million of those, right?

got to watch out for those kind of players.....maybe if you shoved on the flop he goes away with ease.....it was only a freeroll

I think the only reason for this player to be in the pot with you is to hopefully land a hand and have a huge pot, better luck next time!

1 - For a 20k chip lead by the first break you must have been playing waay too many hands.

2 - People that push all in alot do this sometimes to wear people down so when they go again youll call with a less strong hand. That being said, AK is an instacall.

3 - KQ is not a favourite vs AJ preflop. I know you didnt say it was, just reminding you.

4 - How are you sure your KQ is good at any stage. On the flop you may be behind many hands. He flat called your flop bet. Id seriously check any turn that isnt a Queen and see what he does. The turn can give him two pair, more possible trips e.t.c. Id have checked, let him bet or check here, then called behind. The river is good, AJ is unlikely, but id still bet alot less. Or even not at all. Read kingsnthehole's post about pot control and anything ive written about it for more ifno.

5 - Betting 6k on the flop and 6k on the turn is stupid. Bet in accordance with the pot. If the pot on the turn is now 20k, you have 24k back. You cant sensibly bet 6k as its too weak. So 14k+ is now the correct amount for leading out at this.
