Oooh, a decent question! Love it.

Firstly, I fully agree that showing your cards at certain times is a good thing.

Remember when we played HU the 3 or 4 times we have done, and i always showed you something at some time?

What i try and do is show what i want you to see. If i can show one card and i think its good for me to do it, e.g if i raise a few hands in a row HU and then get called, CB the flop and have some kind of hand, ill show it to avoid being reraised preflop in an attempt to keept he superiority at the table.

Now in a non-HU situation, its slightly different. As normally there is 9 or so other people watching or playing the hand, and they are normally looking for information.

Sometimes if i pull off a great bluff, ill show the hand to try and get less respect. This works well if you plan on then going tight, as if you get a hand within 30 or so hands, and you havent gotten moved, they will remember the crap you had last time and be prepared to call down with a weaker hand than before.

Sometimes ill show a hand when i fol dit if i can to make them see i am capable of laying down big hands, i just did it a few mins ago with KK, i raised preflop, got reraised allin and then someone pushed over. I thought for 1 minute, folded and showed the hand. The allins had 88 and AA. Id have lost as 88 hit a set. Got me lots of respect for future flop bluffs.

I can safely get by not showing my cards though, as giving no information on hands is always a good thing.

Im summary, id say its fine to do it, as long as it is infrequent, and your doing it to benefit your style of play at the time.
