Post 5 Ways to Improve your Tournament Game

    1. Position, Position, Position; most important aspect of tournament poker. Try to play as many hands as possible in position and limit the number of hands you play out of position.

    2. Mix it up a little at the start of tournaments. This is the time to see some flops play suited connectors, low pocket pairs, and try to hit a flop big and stack somebody who doesn't like to fold an overpair.

    3. With a stack of 15-25bbs you are going to be limited to what you can do. You don't want to be raise/folding very often and you don't want to be calling other players raises with marginal hands. So play tight solid poker.

    4. With a stack of 15-25bbs you have a great "restealing stack". What I mean by this is if there is a late position raiser that has been active don't be afraid to reraise all in with marginal holdings. The raiser is going to need a big hand in order to call you and chances are he won't have it!

    5. When you are a big stack attack the other big stacks. Tournament poker is all about winning! All the money is in the top 3 places of every tournament so you want to give yourself the best opportunity to win and there is no better way to do that than to attack the other big stacks. Apply some extra pressure to them when you have position and force him/her to a tough decision

Maybe it's just him being creative and what has helped his game. It might be just that so it's hard to accuse so quickly.

Just trying to stick up for you, Dallas, lol.

I like the tip about playing suited connectors because a majority time that is what I like to play because that is what hits for me but I start doing it more when blinds go up it seems.

It is something I really have to work on, dangit.

I completely agree with you dallas on most all of your post except the part about attacking other big stacks. why risk your tournament life against someone who is obviously doing just as good, when you could pick on the small stacks, with alot less risk. Im not saying you should change your style but I often find myself in protect mode shying away from big stacks until the end stages of the tournaments. those small stacks are small but they add up when you take em down, where as one wrong move against another big stack could end your day in a hurry

Firstly, id bet my life on him not writing that.

Secondly, attacking big stacks is vital. They have the chips, you need them, so you need them off them.

Shying away from an all in in a tournament will hugely decrease your chances of winning, while increasing your chances of cashing.

Cashing consistantly is good, but if its not deep, you wont win enough to break even

yeah i would attack big stacks. small stacks usually have the motto of im not going any where so i will call withpaint. or push with paint. lol arsenal knows all about that. thats how he hung around so many tourneys. lol arsenal we need your expertise advice.

    Default good tips

i think those are all pretty good tips you can be a little crazy and aggresive in the beginning, one thing i definately need to work on though is position, i tend to get a little too antsy with my hands instead of waiting for a better spot. thanks for the info though

i agree with that, however, i dont just attack the big stacks, i go after every small stack available, because you can just put them all in with any hand better than 66, and even if you lose, it does'nt hurt your stack too bad...
