Unhappy Well the f'd up economy finally hits home.

well everyone i have had the most roughest 24 hours in my life. i was laid off yesterday to the economy. i have had like 1 hour of sleep since i was told. i worked as a electrician for this company for 9 years. i ahve bent over backwords for them to make them millions and then they dump me because all hell is breaking loose. i knew we were slow but it was managable for me and my family. but to be laid off totally caught me off guard. i was told over email that everyone was laid off. well all my guys that worked under me all had families as do i. u know to be told i was laid off by email was a lack of disrespect by my old boss. i cant believe he would do that to me.i put all my blood sweat and tears in to this company. u know in the last 2 years i have made him like 15 million dollars. i ran all the jobs. i missed my youngest childs first year due to me working in phoenix arizona. im still in shock. i shed tears for hours yesterday because now i cant provide for my family. my manhood took a real big hit. but my wife her being the great woman she is supporting me. i love her so much. well i talked to my boss finally after multiple calls and voicemails and he said his hands were tied. he was in the process of losing everything. how do u lose everything knowing that u made 15 million in 2 years. it was the best 2 years we ever had. well my truck is gone my job is gone. the only thing that was good that came out of it was that he gave me all the tools that i had on my truck to keep(like 15k in tools). wow what a consolation prize. i guarantee u will see half of them on ebay. i am so frustrated and dont know what to do. i filed for unemployement in the time being and already started looking for other jobs but the listings are short. i went to craigslist and did a search and usually i could get like 5-8 pages of jobs but now i get like 1 page and half are for electrical engineers. man times are really about to be rough. yeah i think i am gonna be a stay at home dad because i can save like 2k a month in keeping my kids home from daycare. man im shocked. i havent cried in years and i did. i felt hopeless. well thanks for listening to me and keep me in your minds as i try to straighten out my family life. thanks again everyone.

Man GloBug, I don't know what to say. The only thing I can think to say is that I am so incredibly sorry you are going through this right now. I won't offer a unqualified promise that things will get better soon because none of us really know when that will be. All I will say is that you and your family, especially your precious girls, are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm humbled that you feel able to pour your heart out like this to us. You have shown yourself to be more of a man through this post than many will in their lifetime. You have my support as well as many others here I am sure. Hang in there as best you are able, and continue to come to us any time you feel the need. We are here for you.

Sorry to hear about this Glo Bug.

I've got faith in you though! The simple fact that you've already taken the steps you can at the moment shows that you'll be strong and you'll get through this.

I hope something even better comes along in the near future.

I feel so sorry for you. Getting the news by email is one of the most unreal things I have heard in a long time. That just shows no class on the part of the company. When my last place closed down they called all the employees together and told us all at once.

I realize that men are conditioned to believe that it is an insult to their manhood when they are not bringing home the bacon but take the time to enjoy your kids for a while.

    Sorry glo bug

I only knew you for a little bit. Yea this economy is not strong but it is great to hear that you started looking for a new job. California is one of the states that are not doing to well.

like NDN said something new and better will come up. just keep you head up high and show your family that you are strong. I will send my prays as well to you and your family.

If you need anything the NDN family is here. Just shoot someone a private message or post it. thenutzaa1

Just to give NDN somethng to edit - That licks my hairy armpit man.

Assuming you have qualifications by the bucket load, cant you walk into another job, even if it is less well paid?

Or stay at home for the kids for a bit, im sure all kids would love their dad at home to take care of them.

Or - ill teach ya poker and you can play full time!!!

    Love you!

2k a month? Thats awesome. Id have to work 39hours a week for that.

If i was unemployed id get $75 a week, along with no tax, no health insurance, and id get like $30 a week towards rent.

    Britian = crap

Yeah but $2k a month is what bar staff here make if they work 50 hours a week on minimum wage (£5.75 an hour) (about $8.50).

Im on a bit more than that, but not alot. The economy here is so bad noone is paying anyone anything.

Im on above minimum wage, just.

And i get tips. Tips here average between $20+$50 at my new job per shift. Thats only because of the volume i serve. I get tipped once every 20 or so rounds of drinks. And always by americans!

Plus all bar staff have little scams

That happen to me a year ago so I know what you are going through. It will get better sooner or later. And the best thing you can do now is just to make sure you are looking, something will come along. Good luck.
