Default Collusion, Stupidity or Something Else?

It was late in a freeroll tournament, when a new player was moved to my table. He had a decent amount of chips, but was sitting out.

Another guy at my table was constantly disconnecting, and I assumed he had dial up (or too many **** sites running.) When he is first to act, he puts in a huge raise and then immediately disconnects.

Everyone folds, except the guy who was sitting out suddenly isn't anymore and goes all in.........and disconnects.

The other guy reconnects, calls and wins the pot. Basically, he doubled up and was one of the chip leaders for the freeroll.

The weird thing is, he never disconnects again........

So was it collusion, stupidity or something else?

It sounds really weird but it might be a conicidence because the game was played on FTP and I tend to disconnect on there sometimes too.

well it is hard to tell if it is or not. ur 1st guess would be it is collusion but u never know. we had this b4 on the forum with someone experiencing the same but Stars said there was no collusion. i say it is but who knows.

I mean if that's your instinct don't you trust your gut feeling? I'm not sure Where I stand on this but it gets confusing sometimes, I admit. Looks fishy to me at least.

If you play in the fulltilt freerolls you will noticed that when ever a player disconnect's he is usally the winner. I have noticed that laterly not sure what it means but it makes you think what is going on. I have been playing their for years now and not once did I ever get disconnected. So just keep a watch out for it.

    Stars freerolls = 10k players.

Odds of 2 ppl getting same table - slim

    Chip passing - Easy

Disconnecting alot - easy but pointless.

I reckon they just got unlucky with some internet spikes or something and got cut off.

And people who disconnect dont win every time. Stop making up new conspiracies!

On the subject of freerolls. I consider myself a decent poker player and many will most likely back that up. I play at a variety of limits and in a wide range of games. I have a nice bankroll on the sites I play on regularly and don't need freeroll winnings to "start" my bankroll. When playing freerolls I will occasionally play different styles. There is no risk to my roll, therefore any reward is just a bonus. I've re-raised a preflop raiser with 8/2 off suit, just to see what would happen. I don't use my money game style to play a freeroll because it usually doesn't work. I've found that if I play the way most do in a freeroll I tend to do better. Sometimes it's fun to play "stupid" and leave it to luck. Don't think because someone is lucky in a freeroll they are cheating, the site is rigged, or that you suck at poker. A freeroll is an extreme monster that usually runs a different course everytime you play one.
