    Default Earn chips for typing!

I just wanted to reiterate what an awesome chip system I think we have here at NDN- and earn a little sympathy as well, haha. I'm working on a couple papers for graduate school right now, and oh how I wish it worked like this forum does, where I could earn chips and money just for typing papers! One of them is currently 10 pages long, and the other is supposed to be at least 20- think of how much money I could earn! Don't worry, NDN, I won't post the papers here and spam the forums in an attempt to earn some! But thanks again for offering your members this wonderful bonus for free!

(And sorry if this is in an inappropriate section for the topic, I wasn't sure if I should put it in here or General, given that it's not just me whining about homework that I'm not doing at the moment!)

When I'm spending the day with Klinkman, nobody ever really calls me except my parents, and I ignore their calls sometimes anyway! So that's not really a problem for me. Thanks for the encouragement though, I need it. I keep telling myself I can finish the shorter one today, as there isn't much left to write, but that's part of my problem- I know there isn't much left so I keep putting it off because it isn't due until around midnight tomorrow and I know it won't take me that long to finish. Ahh, procrastination. We have a love-hate relationship, let me tell ya.

Haha thanks. I don't know how often you look at the forums, but I know I'm on pretty much constantly. I promise I will work on my papers today though.

Thanks! Not a huge fan of coffee, at least unless it's something like a mocha or cappuccino. I may have to send klinkman out for a mocha from the Starbucks at our fitness center though...hmm that sounds good, since we still have donuts from the other day. I think I'll do that at some point. Thanks for the suggestion!

Eventually Tay when all you can do is think, live, smell, eat and sleep homework you will learn to love coffee. With caffeine, and chocolate. And you will often find yourself on NDN and calling it your way of meditation. If, you are anything like me. But from experience let me share that (procrastination) even in the least, can mess you up. None the less adds unneeded stress.

I've only been out of grad school for 3 1/2 years but just the thought of writing all those papers makes me annoyed. It annoyed me more that I had to get a master's degree just to keep my teaching job. So I paid all that extra money just to get a piece of paper that says "Permanent Certification" on it.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm looking to teach myself, hopefully something with homeschooled kids, but still having a master's degree would be just helpful. Really frustrating! I do think it would be a little easier to stay motivated though if I were getting paid for all this work!

my problem was i got hired right after i got my bachelor's. that meant i had five years to get my master's before my provisional certification expired. i took two years off to just enjoy and get used to teaching and then went back and finished in two years. the two year break was good but made getting back into "school mode" that much harder. as far as i'm concerned all i got out of grad school was more student loans, my undergraduate program was way more difficult, challenging, and interesting.

Yeah it seems like the only thing I'm doing in grad school is writing papers- I hate having to go to class because the classwork we do isn't relevant in any way, the only thing that matters is just the paper at the end of the semester, so I'd rather not feel like I have to take the time to spend 6 hours in class a week when I could be writing papers anyway. Never mind that I probably wouldn't spend that time writing all the time, but still. It's pointless.

    Default Finished my "shorter" paper!

I just finished the shorter paper I've been working on, that's due at midnight tonight. Here are the final stats:

    Pages: 14
    Words: 3,934
    Characters (with spaces): 24,799

How many chips would I get for this, NDN?

Thanks to everyone for all your support and encouragement, it really means a lot to me! I've got my other paper due on May 7th, so there's not too much time to relax!

Thank you, BnLM5, that makes me smile. I do feel accomplished, but mostly my brain feels tired too! So much writing. And yes, a good grade would be nice- this was actually just a draft I'm turning in, so I hope she likes it enough and I don't have to make too many changes to it! It's always hard to know what a professor is looking for though when you've never had them before, especially writing-wise. I haven't really started the other paper yet...but I know what I'm writing about and have notes like I did for this one, so I just have to actually sit down and turn those notes into a paper. Not too hard, definitely not as hard as starting with nothing. Hopefully I'll finish it in time. Thanks again for the encouragement! I love having a community like this where we all support each other!

Ahh eejit it's you, always down to the nitty gritty! Don't be so frigid you know that Tay deserves more chips than the norm she worked hard on her paper. So lighten up. By the way when was the last time you had to write a paper?

I'm pretty sure I'm not actually getting any chips for it, he was just telling me what I would get. It'd be nice if I did, though...

I know, lol I was just giving him a hard time. He needs that every now and again. But still he was going strictly by the count. He should have doubled it, don't you think? lol

eejit what would we do without you? I mean life at NDN would be so boring without you.

Oh I know. I give him crap all the time- it's one of the highlights of my day. I'm not sure my life would be complete without the ability to give crap to eejit.

Say, eejit, why don't you drop the numbers from your name? Do they mean anything? No one seems to use them anyway. Just a thought...

I dont know, they were just there when i first went online, at the age of like 15 or something. First name i made up, and its stayed.

Getting rid of the 101 mkes sense tho, maybe NDN will get bored and remove them
