Seriously, I really don't see much of a difference. Maybe I just have older taste in music, but that stuff especially doesn't sound any different than anything else that's come out recently, which I personally consider to be crap. There is the possibility that I just don't "get" it, but even so I do see a marked difference in today's music with older music. I don't think many, if any at all, new popular* musician today is really reaching very far back into their musical roots at all, to what pop music used to be. Add to that that much of the popular music today is difficult to classify as strictly pop or strictly R&B music- it depends who you ask where these songs fall. So no, generally as far as popular music is concerned, I don't think much has changed. Not until there is a redefinition of which artists (even current ones) are considered most popular.
