not exactly a HUGGGE WIN, but it was a sweet play and a sick read in my book...
i decided myself that 2-4 dollars/session wasn't enough for me to be winning, and that i was seeing too many hands only to win a little bit, so i made a little jump from .01/.02 upto .05/.10 cash tables on FT...and i've been doing really well, the play is only slightly different, however with that said, i play the same, i try not to get my money in preflop, and i read people and play based off of the range of hands i put them on...which is a much better way of playing than shoving preflop for a coin flip...with that said, i made a sick bluff tonight on a player i read for a pr good hand...
i'll start off by saying that i made a bad read early on, and still got paid substantially for it...i'll give you the hand
i get dealt 9cTc in late position to an unopened pot, and ofcourse i raise it up, one snap call from utg limper...at this point i put him on a PP...flop comes down 988...im thinkin ok i probably have him, he bets out a me...hmmm, A8???...i call because i have top pair and double backdoor flush and straights...turn comes 6 of hearts, he checks...i said at this point, hes got a big hand...he wants me to bet, so i check...river 9...suuuhweet! top boat...one hand that beats me...88, he 3 bets the pot at this point...wtf, does he have 88?!?!?...based on my preflop read, i thought that he quite possibly could have 88 based on the way he snap called the raise from utg, the way he slow played the turn, and also overbet the river, all indications to me of a big hand...i smooth call his 3.80 bet instead of getting it all in for my stack...he flips up A8, and i take down a decent pot...bad read but i did it just incase he had pocket 8's...
anyways, on to my bluff
this guy had bought into the deep cash table for 20 bucks, the table max, and i had about 16 after that last pot i won...and i noticed that this guy was just trying to run over the table with any hand possible...and he was 2.5 betting everything...by this hand, it was the 5th hand in a row he'd raised...i pick up K9 offsuit, and i decide to reraise in late position...well bad news because the BB snap calls, as well as this monkey...
FLOP Qh Ts 4d...check check to me(with a flop like this, i usually just check around with because its highly likely someone hit a piece of this flop) but i decide to throw out a feeler, about 2/3 the pot, wich was only 2 bucks...so i bet 1.25, BB snap calls...and other guy calls too...turn 7h..putting a flush draw on the board...at this point i put the BB on AQ offsuit for some reason just the way she was playin the hand, and i couldnt quite put the other guy on an exact hand, but maybe something like KTsuited or not...AGAIN check check...i say to myself, your'e behind in this hand but if another heart comes, im gonna play it like i have the flush...well, the river comes the 5h...suuuhweet...BB bets out half the pot(2.10 into a pot of 4.80)...other guy snap folds...i sit there, and say AQ, AQ, AQ...and i raise 6.30..she requests time and sits there and type in AQ and folds...i snap show my bluff and the table just starts calling me every name in the book...donkey, fish, idiot, stupido(from the person from argentina), A$$whole, etc...haha, hey if u got a read, u got the pot most of the time...
just thought i'd let everyone know that the best hand doesn't always win the pot on the river...haha
GL on the felt and may your flops be righteous and your pots be huge...
till next time,
Mike
