Default the 4 & 2 rule for NLH

recently, i watched phil gordon's guide to no limit holdem-mathematics...
this is a great video for all of you Full tilt poker academy students.

the rules of 4 and 2 are as follows...

when deciding on wether or not to go ahead and continue play a hand after the flop, even if you are fairly certain you are beat...go ahead and count your outs left in the deck

for example, the flop is Ks Js 2s...and your hole cards are Qd Ts...you have 9 spades left, three 9's(not including the 9 of spades), and Three A's left(not including the A of spades)...for a total of 15

on the flop, if you have 15 outs, multiply this number by 4=60% chance of improving your hand...pretty good odds, if youd ask me

on the turn, if a blanker hits...say the 5 of diamonds...
you take your 15 outs and only multiply them by 2 this time...giving you a 30% chance of improving your hand...

this is a great strategy for beginners, especially if you understand pot odds..

    Default chris fergusion betting

i just watch Chris Ferguson raising in your position. I am not going to get into the details about hands he mention in his clip ibut just raising preflop when you are in a certain position. UTG + 1, 2 min raise in this position to put pressure on the blinds and not risking to much if someone behind you re raises. middle position 3 bet and last to act 6 bet. i tried this betting on micro limits and it didn't work out. i noticed that it didn't work because a min raise isn't that much so i double the raise. for example instead of min raising i made it a 4 bet and 6 bet and 12 bet and it work a lot better, but that's only for the 1, 2 cent limits.

This is a nearly perfect way or working out pot odds.

Problems are working out your runner runner outs, back door outs, and taking away outs to begin with.

Also it not 4% per "out", its nerly 4.4%.

    Question.....

You have 7s8s, and the flop comes 2h 5s 6s. Your up against say AK off suit.

Your outs - 777, 888, 9999, 4444, and all the spades (7 as weve used the9s and 7s aleady). Thats is 21 outs.

So youd think that 21outs x 4% an out (using the basic math) is 84% right.............

    NO!!!!!

Its only when you are drawing to a hug amount of out that the odds decrease once your over 50%. I believe it reduces to 1% per out over 44% or something.

Just a head up incase that happens

true, but if i put my money in thinking my opponent just has AK offsuit, and i have a straight flush draw, i'd take that any day of the week, 365...

and i will post another little tip guide for my raising in a cash game, johhny...min raises in a cash game are weak...

btw eejit, i do agree with you that once you get over 50% that the odds dont increase as much, and also i almost never count if im holding unders to a big board for example, 89suited to a TJ3 flop, if there is more than one person in that pot, its pretty clear that one of your opponents has some over cards and in this case, ur Q's might be dead or someone could be drawing to an ace high straight...so be careful with the unders, but im pr sure you already knew that! haha
