recently, i watched phil gordon's guide to no limit holdem-mathematics...
this is a great video for all of you Full tilt poker academy students.
the rules of 4 and 2 are as follows...
when deciding on wether or not to go ahead and continue play a hand after the flop, even if you are fairly certain you are beat...go ahead and count your outs left in the deck
for example, the flop is Ks Js 2s...and your hole cards are Qd Ts...you have 9 spades left, three 9's(not including the 9 of spades), and Three A's left(not including the A of spades)...for a total of 15
on the flop, if you have 15 outs, multiply this number by 4=60% chance of improving your hand...pretty good odds, if youd ask me
on the turn, if a blanker hits...say the 5 of diamonds...
you take your 15 outs and only multiply them by 2 this time...giving you a 30% chance of improving your hand...
this is a great strategy for beginners, especially if you understand pot odds..
