    Default Winning Play?

OK do you think this play is a winning play????

!st to acty raises 4 times the BB to go.
Me next to act and short stacked shoves with AK for about 10times the BB

Folds around to the SB and he just smooth calls.....he has 44 with the BB and the original raiser still behind him to act....do you think calling with 44 out of position here is a winning play??????

No. If i read right the guy who calls is not the original raiser, so why would he just flat call? If he wants to stack off with 44 then he should go all in you would think.
Because what would make this the stupidest move ever would be if he folded if the original raiser went all in.
No this is not a +EV play because probably 90% of the time the original raiser is gonna reshove over top.
So no a call was not good here at all. AT ALL>

The guy is a donkey to put it blunt.

You cannot expect to be even moderate in the position where he called.

You want this type of play every time. It just sucks how it seems like every time you want them to do this, they do.....and suck out. I can't even tell you how many times that has happened to me.

does anyone ever notice that when you call with a small pair and you take the flop with more than one person that you NEVER win...i always find myself, folding in this case UNLESS i am getting a very good price like only double initial blind and im getting 4-1 or better on my call...then i will call to hit set, but i will NEVER call out of position and for 10x BB like that...alot of times i find myself racing with a pp like 44 to hands like AK, and KJ at the same time...NOT GOOD!

Eric, i think this guy thought that if the UTG player saw a reraise that you did, and he called, that he would fold...it was a stupid play on his part bc he should have atleast put one of you on a decent sized pair after a raise and a shove...not a profitable play in the long run

Absolutely, but the odds are never in your favor.

Your basically hoping to hit a set within the community at best.

Otherwise, your simply dead if there are 2 or more people in the hand. Atleast this is what I have experienced in my play.

Best advice would be to never get your money in early position with anything lower that JJ pre-flop.

I wouldnt agree with that at all. So your saying dont get it all in pre flop with 99 or 10 10? What about AK or AQ? What if your shortstacked in early position? Theres all variables in decisions so saying that is definatley not a good way to think IMO.

    BTW a low pair is 2s 3s 4s and 5s
    Mid pair is 6s 7s 8s 9s and some think 10s
High pairs are Js and above..

I was simply stating you saying that you shouldnt get your money in preflop in early position with anything less than Jacks is way off base. Even for tight players IMO>

I guess it's all perception, that's what makes poker a beautiful game.
