Hello again all,
I was watching my roomate play a micro MTT today on PokerStars and noticed how much different the play is between Middle To High Stakes, and the Micro levels.
So I wanted to speak to all of the Micro players on NDN.
1.) The rate of donk to average player is more then likely 10:1 so you have to be careful, especially early on in the tournament because you'll usually be able to tell the donks within the first 5 hands. They are the ones raising 20 BBs and the ones going in automatically no matter what the flop.
2.) For this reason I tend to say stay away from playing hands early on in these tournaments unless of course it is one of the big monsters (AA,KK,AK) This is strictly because if you go all in against 3 or 4 donks, you increase your chances of getting sucked on with every player in the pot. So an important thing is to stay away from hands early on.
3.) Do NOT look at the payout of the tournament, only the number of places paid. If you look at the payout of a tournament with micro buyin levels you WILL get disappointed and you WILL donk away your chips because you WILL think its such an inconsiderate amount of money.
The fact is you are playing micro stakes (lets say a victoryw ould equal a score of 1)
Your not playing Big stakes (which would equal a 5)
But I graduated from high school and I know that
1+1+1+1+1=5
and that
0+0+0+0+5=5
That analogy is used for how many times you are likely to win a big tournament compared to a micro.
So stay headstrong. Keep your head up and know that youll get tehre soon.
Hope Ive been of help.
