    Default Pocket Kings

Okay so last night I went to this local bar that plays poker. It's about 60 people and it pays 100$ so I like to try to win. Plus it's good live practice for free.

Anyways we're down to 3 tables so about 16-18 people and I get pocket kings in early position.

Blinds are 500-1k and I min raise to 2k. Only person to call is big blind. Only 1k more to him.

    Flop comes A 7 A.

He takes his time, and goes all in. 11,800 chips for me to call. I'm sitting at 26k or around there so If I lose I give him chip stack and I have an average stack at a 7 person table.

I take my time and decide but then lay them down. I flip them over when I fold and show him he had respect from me, and he flips over 7 4 OS.

Tell me which part of this I did wrong.

I minraised because I wanted callers but not on that flop.

    Please help here, thanks.

You want Callers, Yes but a minraise from early position is screaming suck out on me please. Look at it this way.
If he has Lets say 14k starting the hand and blinds are at 500/1k he only has 14 BBs left which is not very much at all.
I raise to about 3.5k and tell any weak ace they are going to have to pay up to try and 3 outter me and to DEFINTELY get hands like 74 OS to lay it down. Even if you pick up the blinds you getting 1500 which is not bad at all according to stack size. You cant price people in to suck out on you and with a minraise that is exactly what your doing.
Worst part is its not even a suck out, he just probably put you on a pair like 4s or 5s when you showed such weakness so he probably thought his 7 was good. not only that but im calling anyway with 2 aces no the board. Its 50% of your stack yes but I wouldve put him on exactly what he had. A garbage hand and he was putting on us a garbage pair.
You got him where you want him, now you just got learn how to close the trap.

    INSTA CALL.

    for sure.

Nothing as strong as trips pushes there, they wait for you to do it.

I understand but this was a new player. I figure a new player makes the mistake of pushing there. When I was new I used to do this.

Sometimes knowledge is better then non. If he is new and you dont know his style, betting habits, and such. Then even if you call with KK and he shows the aces, you have the knowledge to know he will OVERBET the nuts. and i speak from experience that when you find out something that influential on a player, you can own them the rest of the game.

Maybe but I'm not willing to risk half my stack with this. We all have different opinions and the thing that was infulencing my decision the most was my chip stack if I had had another 12k on top of my chip stack I wouldve called most likely.
